This morning, February 15, in Ho Xa town, Vinh Linh district, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province organized the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the spring of Giap Thin 2024. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and a large number of cadres, soldiers and people of Vinh Linh district attended.

Launching the "Tet tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the spring of Giap Thin 2023, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: Following Uncle Ho's teaching: "Spring is the Tet tree planting festival, making the country more and more springy" and continuing the fine tradition of the nation, in recent years, every time Tet comes, spring comes, all levels, sectors and people in the whole province have regularly maintained the movement of planting trees and planting forests.
This is a meaningful work, contributing significantly to natural disaster prevention, socio-economic development associated with ecological environment protection and climate change response.
Implementing Decision No. 524/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on planting one billion trees in the period of 2021-2025, in the past year, the whole province has planted over 11,500 hectares of forest and over 3 million scattered trees; produced over 30 million quality forestry seedlings of all kinds to well organize concentrated forest planting.
The output of exploited and consumed planted forest wood reached over 1 million m3 , ensuring a stable supply of raw materials for the wood processing industry in and outside the province; forest coverage reached about 49.9%, contributing significantly to stabilizing the ecological environment, landscape and minimizing the consequences caused by climate change.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong said that natural disasters are becoming more and more complicated, extreme climate phenomena are increasing, causing great damage to people and property, affecting people's lives. Therefore, the task of afforestation is urgent and long-term.
From there, call on all classes of people to actively participate in planting trees, planting forests, protecting forests, and developing forests. Focus on planting trees on urban roads, concentrated residential areas, cultural and historical relics; planting trees in the premises of agencies, industrial zones, clusters, schools, hospitals, around houses, around gardens, along roads, along river banks, canal banks, hilly areas...
Sectors and localities effectively implement the targets and tasks of sustainable forestry development in 2023 and the One Billion Tree Planting Program in the 2021-2025 period in the province in conjunction with the targets and tasks of sustainable forestry development by 2030.
