French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on March 6 that his country is providing military intelligence to Ukraine after Washington stopped sharing data with Kyiv.
"We have intelligence sources that can help the Ukrainians," Lecornu told France Inter. Lecornu also said that French President Emmanuel Macron had ordered "the acceleration of the transfer of French aid packages to Ukraine to compensate for the frozen aid from the United States."
US cuts off intelligence, Ukraine worried
The US has already stopped sharing intelligence and frozen all military aid to Ukraine, in what appears to be a bid to pressure Ukraine into making concessions and cooperating with the White House’s plans to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The US has also banned its partners, including the UK, from sharing intelligence gathered by Washington with Kyiv, according to The Kyiv Independent. US officials have hinted that the suspension may only be temporary and will depend on progress towards peace talks.

However, the decision is likely to affect warnings about Russian drones and missiles attacking Ukrainian targets, according to The New York Times . Some unnamed US officials hope that the pause in intelligence sharing will be short-lived and have little impact on the battlefield.
Commenting on the above developments, Minister Lecornu said that the provision of intelligence to Ukraine has been suspended since the afternoon of March 5. "I think that for our British partner - who is in a joint intelligence group with the US, sharing will be more complicated." Mr. Lecornu also emphasized that France's nuclear arsenal can help the country be self-sufficient against other powers.
European countries are expected to step up support for Kyiv amid concerns about the Trump administration’s commitment to Ukraine and European security. European aid to Kyiv and the need to increase defense spending will be discussed at an EU summit in Brussels later on March 6.
