A few days earlier, the international copyright holder of the contest announced "suspension or revocation of the titles of some contestants in the top 6.
The contest was held in Ninh Thuan (Vietnam) in February 2025, with the highest position belonging to Hung Nguyen - representative from Vietnam; the titles of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th runner-up were respectively awarded to representatives of Malaysia, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Thailand, Taiwan (China).
In response to public opinion about the announcement on the contest's official fanpage, Mr. Chu Tan Van, Chairman of the contest in Vietnam, affirmed that there has been no official decision on the temporary suspension or revocation of the title. He emphasized that according to Decree 144, the recognition of titles of beauty and model contests in Vietnam must be carried out by licensed units. The contest has been licensed by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province, so any changes related to the title must be reviewed and approved by the competent authority and the contest organizing committee.
Mr. Van added that the incident stemmed from a complaint from the first runner-up - the representative of Malaysia - about the final results. Mr. Van also provided a detailed score sheet with the judges' signature confirming that this contestant did not achieve high results in many sub-competitions.
“We affirm that the results of the competition were evaluated fairly, objectively and in accordance with the procedures. We have explained the results to the international organization, but have not yet received any response,” Mr. Van affirmed.
As for King Hung Nguyen, he was affected when some event schedules and advertising contracts were suspended. However, he affirmed that his title was worthy and believed in the transparency of the organizing committee.
