Female doctor honored twice

Dr. Hoang Thi Hong Trang (32 years old), lecturer of the Russian Language Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, has just been awarded the "Outstanding Young Teacher" award of Ho Chi Minh City 2024 by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.

"I feel happy and proud to receive this award for two consecutive years. It is the motivation for me to continue to contribute to the education career. And it is also a gift of gratitude I want to send to my teachers, who have guided me to the career of educating people," the female doctor shared.

"For some reason, I chose to study at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. This is where I met my "first teacher" (Ms. Tran Thi Que, a former lecturer at the school - PV). She taught me the first Russian words in my life. She lit a fire of passion for teaching in me. Her dedication and responsibility nurtured my soul, helping me envision a future with the teaching profession," Ms. Trang recalled. However, after graduating from university (as the valedictorian of the Russian-English bilingual pedagogy major), Ms. Trang admitted that she had to face the harsh reality of the burden of "making ends meet" and had to temporarily put aside her dream of becoming a teacher. "I decided to apply for a scholarship to study in Russia. It was like an escape from the pressures of life. In a strange land, I was lucky to meet my "second teacher" (Ms. Starikova Galina Nikolaevna, former lecturer at Tomsk National Research University, Russia - PV), who was my supervisor. Not only did she impart knowledge, she also took care of me in every moment of my life," the female doctor continued. "When I successfully defended my doctoral thesis, she asked me how I planned to start my career. Then she shared very profound teachings that I still remember clearly to this day, that no matter how much knowledge I accumulate, if I do not pass it on, it will gradually fade away. The mission of a researcher is not only to find new things but also to pass on knowledge to the next generation. Teaching is the profession that can best fulfill that mission. Those teachings inspired me a lot, helping me realize the beauty and true meaning of the teaching profession," Ms. Trang confided. And Ms. Trang decided to return to Vietnam, to return to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, to continue her journey of spreading love and knowledge to future generations. "The teaching profession gives me a sense of fulfillment and meaning in life. It is not only a job of imparting knowledge, but also an opportunity to create positive influences on the lives of students, contributing to building the country of the future," Ms. Trang said, adding: "There is a saying: "If a doctor makes a mistake, he will lose a life. And if the teaching profession is wrong, it will ruin an entire generation." Every time I see students progress, overcome difficulties and achieve success, I feel like I have contributed a small part to their journey. In addition, the teaching profession also gives me the opportunity to relive my student days, to be the successor of the teachers who gave me the opportunity to access knowledge." According to Ms. Trang, to become a good teacher, many factors are needed: solid professional knowledge, regular knowledge updates, and pedagogical skills improvement. In addition, love for the profession, patience, and the ability to listen are also indispensable factors. Finally, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changes in education will help teachers develop sustainably in their profession...
