Meritorious Artist Huu Chau and Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc in the play "Duyen The"
Right in the rehearsal performance on the afternoon of November 24, the play received praise from experts, and endless compliments for Meritorious Artist Huu Chau's two roles in this play, which are playing the role of Mr. Thanh and also being the director.
With a simple and typical Southern style, the writing style and story in the novel by writer Ho Bieu Chanh have created for himself a new world with narrative prose, simple and rustic but containing countless deep emotions. Therefore, when adapted into a play, the literary material easily moves people's hearts.

Having loved Ho Bieu Chanh's literature since he was a student at the School of Stage Arts II, now the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau found deep sympathy when reading the script of writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc - his teacher when he was still in school.
That's why he quickly put it on the rehearsal stage so that Thien Dang stage could perform this work on schedule, after a series of premieres: "Giang Huong - Late Night Stage" (directed by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc), "Alo, Lo Hang" (directed by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc), "Ngoi Nha Tren May" (directed by Tuan Khoi).

As a script adapted from two novels by one of the pioneering writers when Quoc Ngu literature was born in the 20th century in the South, "Duyen The" is first of all a script with a lot of room for the director to exploit.
It must be admitted that with the experience of a good actor, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau had a very beautiful script, so that "Duyen The" touched the audience's emotions, making those who love Ho Bieu Chanh's literature shed tears when watching "Duyen The".

The writer came from a farming family in Binh Thanh village, Go Cong province and was sent to study Chinese characters from a young age, later switching to studying Quoc Ngu and then attending My Tho and Saigon high schools. Therefore, the writer is a living witness to the intersection of two eras, when Confucianism gradually faded away in the integration of Quoc Ngu, his first works became highlights of the literature of that time and the theater writers relied on them to adapt from Cai Luong to movies and dramas.
Although the plot is simple but the ideas are profound, when staging, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau closely follows the characters' lives with the correct writing style, space and even the very Southern language of the time when the French were still occupying our country.
Meritorious Artist Huu Chau always creates opportunities for young actors to have good roles.
The characters in the play "Duyen The" such as: Huyen (Le Phuong), Cang (Thanh Loc), Thanh (Huu Chau), Tu Leo (Phuong Dung), Tam Ton (Thanh Khon), Bay Linh (Phi Phung), Cuong (Truong Ha), Binh (Luong The Thanh), Phung (Trang Tuyen), Loan (Nghiem Nhi)... performed with the rustic Southern style, touching the hearts of the audience, thereby arousing compassion for resisting evil and honoring good.
The only role that required Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc to speak in a northern accent was thought to be "out of place", but he knew how to blend it in very flexibly, making the role of Cang really impressive.
More specifically, the voice of Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc with the song "Con thuyen khong ben" by Dang The Phong has deepened the mood of the father character who has made many mistakes, offending the morality of husband and wife.
Many researchers have called writer Ho Bieu Chanh the pearl of Southern literature in the early 20th century, which is not wrong, because in addition to his writing style, the stories he tells up to this point are still not outdated, still full of teachings of Vietnamese culture.

And the cherished language itself has become the vehicles carrying the characters' souls from Ho Bieu Chanh's literary pages to Thien Dang stage, bringing abundant emotions to the audience. Although not flowery, it contains countless simple beauties through the editing of director Meritorious Artist Huu Chau.
The role of Mr. Thanh, although a supporting role, exudes a spirit of integrity, respect for morality, and avoidance of evil. Meritorious Artist Huu Chau does not act but lives fully with the breath of this character. Once again, in his artistic journey, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau has another very good supporting role.
