Realizing the goal of becoming a regional and international tourism center, a leading national tourist destination by 2030, Quang Ninh is promoting investment in tourism infrastructure, focusing on building a chain of high-class products associated with Ha Long Bay.
The province also pays special attention to expanding tourism space to welcome international visitors and communicating and promoting destinations to emerging international markets.
Quang Ninh currently has a complete inter-regional and international transportation system including roads, sea routes and air routes. In addition to owning the longest and most modern highway in the country, Quang Ninh also has 2 international passenger ports and 1 modern international airport.
The synchronous transport system contributes to promoting Quang Ninh's geopolitical advantages in the region, increasing regional connectivity and opening the door to welcome tourists from all over the world.
The journey to Quang Ninh has never been easier for tourists. Director of Asia Destination Management Joint Stock Company in Vietnam, B. Ha Long Bay is a "magnet" attracting international visitors to Quang Ninh. |
When mentioning Quang Ninh, it is impossible not to mention Ha Long Bay, the province's international tourist attraction. Since Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage in 1994 and then in 2000, the number of tourists, especially international visitors to Quang Ninh has improved significantly, increasing from 3.5 million international visitors in 2016 to 5.7 million visitors in 2019.
The special tourism product in Ha Long Bay is the overnight cruise which has long been a favorite and “must-try” product for international visitors to Ha Long. On the journey lasting two days and one night or two days and three nights, visitors will admire the magnificent beauty of the Heritage Bay and enjoy the culinary specialties of Quang Ninh. In addition, visitors can also enjoy music, kayaking, yoga in the dawn, watch the sunset, learn about pearl farming or experience night squid fishing.
Joining the 2-day-1-night cruise on Ha Long Bay, New Zealand tourist Nicole Rose shared: “I feel lucky that I chose this cruise! There is no sign of noisy cities here, only bright colors and sounds, the taste of fresh nature. The cruise journey has made me feel like I have been recharged with new energy. I will never forget this wonderful trip.”

To meet and serve the diverse needs of tourists, constantly renewing their experiences on Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh has launched many unique and high-end tourism products, such as: A cruise model combined with a 5-star luxury restaurant with a 4-6 hour cruise; a singing-among-wonders tourism product, where tourists can enjoy music in the poetic setting of Ha Long Bay; flying a seaplane to fully admire the beauty of Ha Long Bay from above...
In order to reduce the load on Ha Long destination and expand the space for tourism development, Quang Ninh has formed new tourist centers and satellite destinations to extend the stay of international visitors in Quang Ninh.
According to the Master Plan for Tourism Development in Quang Ninh to 2020, with a vision to 2030, Quang Ninh builds Van Don into one of the four key tourism centers of the province, focusing on developing Bai Tu Long Bay, linking tourism development between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.
In addition, the province also closely coordinated with Hai Duong and Bac Giang to urgently complete the dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage site.
With this effort, Quang Ninh tourism can completely hope for a second World Heritage, opening a new international tourist destination next to Ha Long Bay.

Quang Ninh’s emerging tourist destinations such as Co To are also becoming more known and visited by international tourists. After Co To was recognized as a local tourist area in 2016 with the barrier to welcoming international visitors removed, international visitors can travel to Co To very easily.
In 2019, Co To welcomed 5,000 international tourists. In the first 8 months of 2023, the number of international visitors to the island district also exceeded 2,000. It is expected that in 2023, the number of international visitors to Co To will increase to the same level as before the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to resuming traditional international tourist markets such as Northeast Asia, Europe and the US, in order to diversify the tourist market and increase the exploitation of tourists from emerging markets, Quang Ninh tourism is targeting markets such as India, Southeast Asia and the Muslim tourist market. The province's goal is to gradually restore the international tourist market, striving to welcome at least 8.6 to 9 million international tourists annually by 2030.
