Important notes for high school graduation exam candidates

Việt NamViệt Nam24/06/2024

In three days, more than 1 million candidates nationwide will officially take the high school graduation exam - the final exam for students studying the 2006 General Education Program. With the goal of "2 in 1", the exam results are both used for high school graduation recognition and for university admission, so compliance with the regulations and related rules is something to keep in mind.

Prepare enough personal documents

According to the schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training, at 2:00 p.m. on June 26, candidates nationwide will be present at the examination room to complete the procedures for the 2024 high school graduation exam. To be mentally prepared for the exam, this is a very important preparation step, helping candidates feel secure and proactive in all aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to be present on time and perform all the contents according to the instructions of the exam supervisor.

According to the experience of parents whose children took the exam in previous years, the exam registration procedure is also a "rehearsal" session, helping families calculate the distance from home to the exam location appropriately, anticipating unexpected situations (traffic, heavy rain...) to avoid arriving close to the exam time, or even being late.

Candidates need to prepare full identification documents to present when taking the exam.

Given the importance of the exam, this year the Ministry of Education and Training attaches special importance to the work of preventing and combating cheating. Therefore, bringing full identification documents is something that needs to be prepared right from this point on. This not only ensures your legitimate rights but also contributes to organizing a fair and substantial exam.

Upon arriving at the exam site, candidates will receive an exam card. Candidates need to check all the information on their exam card, paying attention to personal information and the registration section for the exam subjects and papers. If any errors are found, candidates must immediately notify the teacher for timely correction, to avoid discovering them on the official exam day, which will affect their test-taking mentality.

The 2024 high school graduation exam will take place on June 27 and 28.

Regarding whether candidates can use the VNeID application instead of their citizen identification card during the exam registration process, the Ministry of Education and Training has affirmed that candidates are not allowed to use their citizen identification card on the VNeID application to complete the procedures for the 2024 high school graduation exam.

This is also clearly stated in the exam regulations and instructions, specifically: Candidates must present the original identification documents used to register for the exam when completing the exam procedures. Candidates should note that the VNeID application is installed on the phone, while the phone is one of the items prohibited from being brought into the exam room, so this electronic application cannot be used for authentication during the exam procedures.

In Hanoi, this content has been specifically disseminated by the City Examination Steering Committee to each examination site. Accordingly, in case candidates forget or lose their identification documents, examination sites will instruct candidates to write a commitment letter and carry out verification according to regulations, and at the same time create conditions for candidates to take the exam.

Check the exam carefully as soon as you receive it.

To be considered for high school graduation, candidates must complete 4 exams, including math, literature, foreign language and a combination exam (natural science or social science). Thus, each candidate has 4 exam sessions. Maintaining health, mental state and arriving on time for the exam are things candidates need to remember. According to regulations, for each exam session, candidates must be present at the exam room at the specified time. If they arrive more than 15 minutes late after the test time signal, they will not be allowed to take the exam for that session.

The specific exam schedule is below:

When taking the exam, candidates must comply with the regulations in the exam room. In previous years, candidates were allowed to bring recording devices into the exam room, but this year these items are on the prohibited list. This is a new point in this year's exam regulations that candidates need to remember to avoid breaking the rules.

If a candidate brings one of the prohibited items into the exam room, he/she will be suspended from the exam. Candidates who are suspended from the exam in any year will have all exam results and subjects of that year's exam canceled, which means that the candidate is not qualified to graduate from high school and no longer has the opportunity to participate in the university entrance exam.

Candidates are only allowed to bring into the examination room pens; rulers; pencils; erasers; squares; graphing rulers; drawing tools; handheld calculators without text editing functions and no memory cards; Vietnam Geography Atlas compiled according to the 2026 General Education Program (without markings or writing any other content).

Prohibited items to bring into the exam room include: Carbon paper, erasers, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosives, flammable substances; documents, communication equipment (receiving, broadcasting information, recording audio, video) or containing information to cheat during the exam.

Checking the exam papers immediately upon receiving them from the invigilator is a responsibility, and it is also an important thing that candidates should not be subjective or negligent about in order to ensure their rights. In fact, the fact that some math exam papers in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year in Hanoi were printed blurry, causing candidates to misunderstand and make mistakes is a lesson for all candidates in exams.

To minimize risks that may affect the exam results, candidates must promptly check the entire content of the exam immediately upon receiving the exam. If any abnormalities are detected (such as missing pages, torn, blurred, smudged pages, etc., or the component subjects of the combined exam do not have the same exam code), candidates must immediately report to the invigilator within 5 minutes from the time the exam is distributed. If more than 5 minutes have passed since the exam, candidates are fully responsible for the exam they have received.
