The opening ceremony of the “Culture Festival for Peace” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored as the City for Peace took place at Ly Thai To Park on the morning of October 6.
Attending the festival were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong and many leaders of the Party, State and Hanoi city. |
The program opened at 7:00 a.m. on October 6 with a solemn incense offering ceremony at the Ly Thai To Monument Flower Garden and around the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake to commemorate the great contributions of our ancestors to the cause of building and protecting the capital. |
The event is a major festival of Hanoi, an important highlight in the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 25th anniversary of receiving the title of City for Peace by UNESCO. |
The highlight of the event was the vivid reenactment of 60 days and nights of fighting in the heart of Hanoi – the epic that opened the nation's resistance war against French colonialism. |
The main stage was elaborately staged, recreating the image of the army marching towards Hanoi at the historic moment of October 10, 1954. |
This heroic moment was expressed through large-scale live performances, with the participation of nearly 1,000 soldiers and 200 artists and dancers. |
The parade and performance force includes artisans and people from 30 districts, towns and cities; artists, actors, musicians and people from all walks of life in the capital, and international friends. |
More than 8,000 people, including 5,000 local residents and representatives of local forces, participated in the parade, performing unique folk art and cultural forms. |
The audience enjoyed the intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO and the country, along with the traditional cultural beauty of the capital such as: Senh Tien dance, Bai Bong dance, Ai Lao, Giao Long dragon dance, Tong Goi boat rowing, ca tru, water puppetry, Xam singing and religious heritages such as worshiping Tan Vien Son Thanh, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Giong. |
The program is divided into three main parts: Hanoi Memories, Heritage Flow, and Hanoi: City for Peace, Creative City. |
Each part carries a separate message, contributing to creating a panoramic picture of Hanoi through historical periods, from the glorious past to the innovative present and bright future. |
“Culture for Peace Festival” spreads the historical and cultural values of the capital to the whole country and international friends. This is not only an opportunity for Hanoi to affirm its position as a historical and cultural city but also an important tourism, economic and political center of the whole country. |
This event is also part of the strategy to develop cultural industrial products, contributing to promoting cultural tourism and sustainable economic development for the capital. |
