According to the Quick Report on the market situation of some Tet goods of the Domestic Market Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade on January 29, 2025, on the first day of Tet, people mainly go out to celebrate Tet, visit, and go to pagodas at the beginning of the year, and there are very few trading activities because most businesses are closed for Tet. Some convenience store chains such as Circle K, Family Mart, B's mart, 7 Eleven, GS25 or large distribution systems such as AEON, Go! and Big C... are still open during Tet to serve people's shopping needs. Prices of goods at supermarkets are generally stable compared to before Tet.

According to traditional customs, on the first day of Tet, people often go to temples, pagodas, and communal houses for the first time of the year, so the items sold and consumed today by traders are mainly flowers, fresh fruits, candies, votive paper... to serve people going to the temple.
Accordingly, the prices of some types of flowers have increased slightly due to the demand for people to go to pagodas. The prices of some popular types of flowers are as follows: Lilies from 200,000 - 350,000 VND/dozen depending on the type; gladiolus from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/dozen; large chrysanthemums about 40,000 - 60,000 VND/dozen; roses 50,000 - 70,000 VND/dozen...
Essential goods keep prices stable
In addition to fresh flowers, the Domestic Market Department informed that on the first day of Tet, prices of some essential goods at supermarkets were stable compared to the previous day.
Specifically, for food items, prices of regular rice, high-quality rice and delicious sticky rice tend to be stable compared to the previous day. Specifically, the price of high-quality rice in the North ranges from 25,000 - 42,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 29,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; in the South, high-quality rice ranges from 22,000 - 38,000 VND/kg; the price of sticky rice ranges from 27,000 - 34,000 VND/kg.
For fresh food products: Pork, beef, and mackerel prices (in the South) increased slightly by 5,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to the previous day. Currently, pork prices are commonly at: rump 110,000-120,000 VND/kg, pork loin and belly 130,000-160,000 VND/kg; grade I beef tenderloin from 250,000-280,000 VND/kg; featherless chicken price 120,000-150,000 VND/kg; shrimp price (26-30 pieces/kg): 400,000-450,000 VND/kg.
Regarding vegetables, tubers and fruits, although the weather is getting colder, the supply of vegetables and fruits is quite abundant and diverse, so prices are stable. The prices of some common vegetables are as follows: cabbage: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant, kohlrabi: 5,000 VND/root, lettuce: 15,000-30,000 VND/kg, tomatoes: 10,000-15,000 VND/kg (depending on the locality), potatoes: 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, cauliflower: 10,000-15,000 VND/plant...
Regarding fruits, the prices of some delicious fruits, popular for going to pagodas, tend to be stable compared to the previous day, except for dragon fruit and mandarin oranges, which tend to increase locally in some areas. Specifically: Dragon fruit 60,000-90,000 VND/kg; Cat mango 50,000-60,000 VND/kg; Mandarin orange 50,000-77,000 VND/kg; Dien grapefruit 20,000-25,000 VND/kg, imported apples 100,000-120,000 VND/kg...
Processed food prices also remained the same as the previous day. Specifically, the price of pork roll is currently commonly from 150,000-170,000 VND/kg, the price of beef roll is about 280,000-300,000 VND/kg, the price of banh chung fluctuates from 50,000-70,000 VND/piece (depending on size and weight).

Ensuring the supply and price stabilization of essential goods is one of the key tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other ministries and branches every time Tet comes. Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Directive No. 12/CT-BCT dated November 20, 2024 on implementing solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and market stabilization at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year 2025. Leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also continuously made working trips to major provinces and cities across the country on the supply of essential goods, electricity, coal, gasoline, etc. to serve the Tet market.
According to reports from localities and businesses, the supply of essential goods during Tet At Ty is abundant, with many attractive promotional programs.
It is predicted that on the second day of Tet, some more supermarkets will reopen, and traders in some large markets will also start selling again to serve people, mainly focusing on vegetables, tubers, and fruits. |
