Due to the vague concept of sustainable development, many businesses are walking in the 'fog' of green and digital transformation.

Within the framework of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Golden Brand Festival - 2024, on the afternoon of January 3, the workshop "Promoting dual transformation for sustainable development" listened to the concerns of businesses on the journey of digital transformation and green transformation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh Bao - co-founder of Green Transition Consulting & Training, many businesses are facing ambiguity in understanding and shaping sustainable development strategy (ESG) leadership.
While ESG is often seen as a costly, complex process, many businesses need to change their mindset and see it as an opportunity to enhance competitiveness and create long-term value.
Specifically, the green transition poses many major challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises, from limited financial resources, technology, and human resources in accessing technology to the lack of specialized human resources.
Meanwhile, many businesses still do not fully understand the support policies, making it difficult for them to measure and report, face pressure from large businesses, and ultimately have difficulty finding green suppliers.
Therefore, according to Mr. Truong Anh Hai - Deputy General Director of NS BlueScope Vietnam, it is important to know how to balance short-term profits and long-term development goals. According to experience, small changes such as adjusting processes or applying technology can bring great efficiency in saving energy and reducing environmental impact.
In the tourism industry, Mr. Vo Van Phong, General Director of C2T Company, shared the application of the "low-impact green tourism" model, emphasizing the reduction of carbon emissions and encouraging the use of environmentally friendly products.
Ms. Nguyen Nam Tran, Executive Director of Certification, Training, and Assessment - SGS Vietnam, believes that with digital transformation, businesses need to have a vision in implementation, not waiting for customers to demand something before responding.
"Vietnamese enterprises exporting goods to international markets often face difficulties because they are quite passive in the face of the new rules of ESG standards. When customers add a series of new requirements to comply, they are confused.
The most important thing in the current context is that businesses need to proactively plan comprehensive strategies right from the start," Ms. Nam Tran noted.
Experts affirm that dual transformation, including digital transformation and green transformation, is the key for businesses to develop in the context of increasingly fierce competition. While digital transformation helps improve productivity and optimize processes, green transformation is the only way to protect the environment and increase brand value.
Therefore, clearly recognizing and seriously investing in these two forms of transformation will determine the future of businesses in the new era.
