In addition to coming to the stadium to watch the Vietnamese team's training session, fans in Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City are also eager to buy tickets for the upcoming matches against Cambodia and Laos.

The capacity of Go Dau stadium after installing seats is only 11,000 - a number that is not enough compared to the needs of fans.

If only there was a match in Ho Chi Minh City

Yesterday (March 17) was the day of direct ticket sales in Ho Chi Minh City, after the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) opened direct sales in Binh Duong a day earlier. Tickets for the match between Vietnam and Laos in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup received great attention from fans.

Because many spectators had bought tickets online, the number of tickets sold directly was very small, and the organizers did not even sell tickets for this match at Go Dau Stadium but sold them at Thong Nhat Stadium. However, after only 20 minutes of opening for sale, the remaining few hundred tickets for the Vietnam - Laos match were sold out.

Thai Hien, a fan, said: "Before, the Vietnamese team only played in Hanoi or the northern provinces, so Southern audiences like me who wanted to go watch couldn't watch either.

We mainly gathered at Nguyen Hue walking street or places with big screens to watch and cheer for the atmosphere. This time, watching the team live in Binh Duong was really exciting." Many other fans regretted it, because if one of these two matches had been held at Thong Nhat Stadium, more tickets would have been issued and it would have been more convenient to go cheer.

Binh Duong "fever" with the national team

The news of the two matches of the Vietnam team at Binh Duong Stadium attracted the attention of many spectators in the South. Although the weather in mid-March was harshly sunny and unusually rainy, it still could not stop the affection of the fans at each training session of the team. On average, there were about 200 spectators waiting to shake hands and get autographs from coach Kim Sang Sik and his players when the team practiced.

The Vietnam team will have a "warm-up" match against Cambodia in a friendly match taking place on the evening of March 19. The VFF has deployed tickets online early, so there was no jostling or pushing on the day of direct sale at Binh Duong Stadium. However, there were still many people who came to buy tickets directly because they could not buy tickets online.

Most of the spectators who came to buy tickets for the Cambodia match still wanted to buy tickets for the Laos match on March 25, but there were no tickets to buy. "I read information online and saw that tickets for the Laos match were being sold, but when I got there, there were none. I didn't know how to buy online, so I took advantage of Sunday to buy them," said Ngo Van Hieu, a worker in Bau Bang district.

The closer the Vietnam - Cambodia match day gets, the more excited fans in Binh Duong are waiting for the ball to roll.

Cambodia team to Binh Duong

The Cambodian team arrived in Binh Duong on the afternoon of March 17. Compared to the 2024 ASEAN Cup, the Cambodian team has a few changes. However, coach Koji Gyotoku still has 5 naturalized players in the squad: captain Kan Mo (South Africa), defender Takaki Ose, Yudai Ogawa (Japan), midfielder Andres Nieto (Colombia) and striker Abdel Kader Coulibaly (Ivory Coast). In addition, there is also Cambodian-American midfielder Nick Taylor (USA).
