Potential of Vietnamese films

“Vietnam has a thriving film industry, with great potential for development in the fields of culture and arts,” Patrick Lau, deputy executive director of the HKTDC, told Tuoi Tre Online at a meeting with international journalists in Hong Kong on March 17.

“We are very pleased to welcome Vietnam and for the first time have a dedicated exhibition area. This year, FILMART has witnessed a significant increase in international units. This helps to take advantage of the trend of filmmaking today that requires technology, requires cooperation not only interdisciplinary but also across borders.

And this is exactly what FILMART aims for, and what Hong Kong has established as a hub to support these things. Vietnam has a thriving film industry, with huge potential for growth in the fields of culture and arts.

I think that cooperating with Hong Kong as well as using the platform from Hong Kong to cooperate with more countries in the world will be the right direction. We are very confident in the future of the Vietnamese film industry."

Participating in a booth promoted as a “media expert in Vietnam” at FILMART, Jacky said he has more than 30 years of experience with the Vietnamese market. He said many content providers have contacted him for support in entering the Vietnamese market.

Popular Vietnamese horror movies

The booth of V Pictures, a subsidiary of CJ CGV Vietnam, welcomed many international guests with about 8 films of various genres such as horror, animation, concert film Anh trai say hi... to introduce at FILMART.

Among them, Taiwanese customers are the most numerous thanks to the popularity of the movie Ma da released in the Taiwanese market last year, leading to the demand for Vietnamese horror movies from Taiwanese customers.

Ms. Tran Phuong Thao, head of BHD's copyright department, also said that she was fully booked with partners who wanted to learn about and buy films throughout the four days of FILMART, with customers coming from many countries around the world, the majority of whom were from Asia.

Having participated in FILMART for many years, this year BHD brings a variety of products from the script development stage such as Ho linh trang si , to production stages such as Ben em trong anh mat nang , Co choi co chiu , and also popular films that the unit produces and distributes.

According to Ms. Tina Phan, Indochina Regional Director of HKTDC - Ho Chi Minh City Branch Representative Office, if previously Vietnamese films appeared at FILMART on a single scale and the booths were arranged more scatteredly, this year, the Vietnamese film brand has become clearer, helping visitors have a comprehensive view of Vietnamese films, demonstrating the development of Vietnamese films in recent years.

Increase production connectivity, AI application

In addition to new pavilions from Australia, Cambodia, France, India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam, the 29th FILMART also features first-time exhibitors from Armenia, the Czech Republic, and Kazakhstan.

In addition, the Producers Connect program with a series of events to promote international cooperation and support producers in Hong Kong, and the AI Hub area introducing innovative AI applications in the filmmaking process also appeared for the first time at the fair.
