On September 2, Hanoi's main tourist attractions were always packed, with visitors sometimes having to wait hours to get in.
At around 10am, the road around the Temple of Literature was jammed due to the large number of visitors flocking to this tourist spot. According to the representative of the relic site, the number of visitors on September 1st was estimated at 5,000 and on September 2nd, it was over 3,000.
"We are selling tickets non-stop, there are so many customers," he said.
However, inside the Temple of Literature, there was no traffic jam because at each stop, the tourist groups only stopped for about 2-3 minutes to visit.
Hoa Lo Prison is also a popular tourist attraction during the September 2nd holiday. The management unit said there are no specific statistics on the number of tickets sold, but "it must be very large" because visitors have been coming and going non-stop since the morning of September 1st.
According to VnExpress , at around 11am on September 2, there were always about 25-30 customers waiting to buy tickets in front of the Hoa Lo Prison ticket booth. Inside the prison relic site, in some narrow corridors, visitors had to move very slowly.
At attraction number 6 - the dungeon (cachot), a female staff member sitting outside constantly asked visitors to move quickly because this area is the smallest of the attractions. Meanwhile, visitors to Hoa Lo Prison have a habit of stopping for quite a while to read the information and visit the exhibits on display.
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Hanoi on September 2nd was the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. On the morning of September 2nd, thousands of visitors lined up to visit the mausoleum. The queue was stable and orderly, stretching from the area near the Botanical Garden.
"I've only waited for about an hour, many people waited longer. I know that every year on September 2, Uncle Ho's Mausoleum is crowded with people visiting, but I still went to fully experience this special occasion," said Hoang Anh, 34, from Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi, before continuing to move forward to avoid congestion.
Also on the morning of September 2, the Hanoi Department of Tourism coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board to distribute 20,000 gifts including cakes and drinks to visitors. These small gifts are a way to help visitors reduce some of the fatigue of waiting in long lines in hot weather. The activity has been organized by the city's Department of Tourism since 2018.
This year, Hanoians and tourists will also take advantage of the free double-decker bus service to see the city. From September 1 to September 4, there will be 36 free double-decker buses serving visitors to the city every 30 minutes, with a capacity of 44 passengers per bus.
