At the age of 24, Phan Dang Hoang officially achieved his dream when his "CERAMICS" collection appeared at one of the most prestigious fashion weeks in the world in the form of a live show. Before that, he had participated many times in the form of a digital show.

The Nghe An-born designer took 5 months to complete the collection. Before boarding the plane to Italy, he was still focusing on completing the final stages.

Received compliments from Anna Wintour

Phan Dang Hoang's show attracted attention with the presence of many young faces with influence in fashion such as Larissa Minatto or Carmelo Corvaia... In addition, familiar faces from Vietnam such as Chau Bui and Quynh Anh Shyn also came to celebrate with the 24-year-old designer.

Above all, the opportunity to meet Anna Wintour - Editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine, known as the "iron lady" in the fashion world - made Phan Dang Hoang unable to hide his happiness. When he was a student in Italy, he also talked with her while doing his project.

According to the Gen Z guy (those born between 1997 and 2012), the short reunion helped him introduce his new collection to Anna Wintour and receive many compliments from her. At the same time, she also asked him about the brand development process and gave him advice on how to operate fashion in the 4.0 era.

Blending ancient and modern beauty

Royal Palace of Milan is the location Phan Dang Hoang chose to launch 42 designs.

"This is a famous historical place in Milan and surely every guest has stopped here at least once. I have been attached to Milan for a long time and want my audience to also have the feeling of living in a historical atmosphere when watching the show. This place is also suitable for me to recreate the image of women in the past and present," the young designer shared with Dan Tri reporter.

Unlike previous collections, "CERAMICS" is a synthesis of two sources of inspiration - silk paintings by silk painting master Nguyen Phan Chanh and ceramic sculpture. While the paintings "Playing O An Quan", "Di Ploughing", "Di Xay", "Chi Em Choi Ca" recall the simplicity and exemplary style of Eastern classical art and Western sculpture methods, ceramics bring soft, sophisticated curves.

From there, the collection recreates the gentle, graceful features and strong, individual style of Vietnamese women 100 years ago. "CERAMICS" depicts both soft, artistic lines and simple, genuine features like a part of the Vietnamese people.

Phan Dang Hoang wants to convey the image of a woman who always knows how to blend beauty, ancient virtues with the spirit of strong desire to rise up in the modern world.

To choose the right model for the collection, Phan Dang Hoang said: "The casting process luckily went smoothly because I told the Organizing Committee about my requirements in advance. I want the model to be dynamic, youthful, strong, expressing personality and hidden beauty inside."

Pride - sophistication - convention

The details of the scarf and cut-outs on the soft silk material are recreated by Phan Dang Hoang in the true spirit of the works of famous painter Nguyen Phan Chanh.

He applies eclecticism through techniques of applique, knitting, dyeing, embroidery, pleating... and materials that change from gentle like chiffon, organza, silk, crepe, lace to strong like denim, leather, linen, twill, cotton.

Brown, black, eggshell white, orange, betel nut red, olive green… harmoniously combine to create a picture of Vietnam, simple and rustic but with extraordinary inner strength.

The color palette has a "mother earth" vibe, as the designer expressed his desire to convey a simple, sustainable source of inspiration in a collection that blends streetwear and haute couture elements.

Phan Dang Hoang (born 2000, Nghe An) graduated with honors from Nouva Accademia Di Belle Arti University (NABA) in Italy. He had the opportunity to meet Anna Wintour - Editor-in-Chief of Vogue fashion magazine, the most powerful woman in the world fashion industry, three times.

The young designer’s creations have appeared in foreign magazines, including Vogue (Italy). Phan Dang Hoang is the first Vietnamese brand to be featured at Milan Fashion Week.
