Claw Producer "Fooled"
The movie Claws took about 7 years from script to reality.
The script for Claws was conceived by screenwriter Tran Khanh Hoang in 2015 and took 3 years to complete. The script was welcomed by producer Nguyen Trinh Hoan, who invited director Le Thanh Son ( Dragon Trap, Em chua 18 ) to direct.
Initially, the producers thought the film would be inexpensive because it revolved around a group of friends on a road trip through the woods.

But when completed, the film's budget was not low. No one in the crew expected the special effects to be so expensive and difficult.
When the film started filming, producer Nguyen Trinh Hoan joked with the screenwriter that he was "fooled".
"This is a difficult project, it has been introduced to many producers and directors. The biggest risk is that people are afraid they won't be able to make the bear" - Tran Khanh Hoang said.
The bear is very scary but when it is on film, if the image is not real and convincing, the film will lose its authenticity.
The screenwriter was lucky that the producers had enough time and money to convince the audience. Bad Clay Studio - a company that specializes in VFX for Hollywood films - was hired to do the effects.
As one of the investors, main actor Tuan Tran said that the special effects increased the budget a lot and he also contributed a part to help the film reach its destination.

Producer Nguyen Trinh Hoan said the script took a lot of effort to make the audience believe in the story.
Post-production took much longer than the crew imagined, thanks to the support of investors.
Thao Tam is not afraid to replace Kaity Nguyen
The prolonged production of Claws also caused lead actress Kaity Nguyen to withdraw from the film. She had previously been invited to play the character Trang.
After that, Thao Tam was chosen to "replace" Kaity Nguyen but her character was named Tuong Minh and was built differently from Trang.

Regarding the pressure of "replacing" Kaity Nguyen, Thao Tam said she always admired Kaity and still remembers Kaity's eyes in the movie The Last Wife by director Victor Vu.
She shared: "Each actor when transforming into a new character has different experiences and life background.
My version of the character on screen will, in a way, be a unique version. I just focus on making sure the character is portrayed on screen as clearly as possible.
I appreciate the film crew's trust in choosing me for this project."
Director Le Thanh Son said he invited Thao Tam after watching the role of teacher Hong in the movie Mat Biec by Victor Vu, as well as reviewing her other roles.
The reason he chose Thao Tam was because Tuan Tran - the actor who played the role - wanted to find someone who could "hold Tuan Tran's head". Thao Tam's deep voice impressed the director with the power of a young girl.
Claws will be in theaters June 7.
