Abundant supply of goods and essential food to meet the consumption needs of city residents
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – Information from the Department of Industry and Trade said that in recent days, the source of goods, food, essential necessities before, during and after Storm No. 3 in the city has always been guaranteed.
Commercial businesses in the city have basically proactively prepared supplies and reserves to serve the needs of people and businesses before, during and after Storm No. 3 in 2024.
Accordingly, the supermarket system in the city before, during and after Storm No. 3 still operated normally to serve people (at the time of the power outage, the supermarket system ran generators to serve people) , prices of goods remained stable for essential items such as food, vegetables, fruits, milk, sugar, cooking oil, the number of customers coming to shop in the days before, during and after the storm increased from 50-70% of the number of customers on normal days ...
At the markets in the city, before Storm No. 3 made landfall, prices of goods remained stable. However, for green vegetables, prices increased slightly by 5-10%, for meat, poultry, and seafood, prices increased by 5-7% compared to normal days, and for rice, noodles, milk, cakes, sugar, cooking oil, and eggs, prices remained stable. During and after Storm No. 3, although all markets were affected, many businesses and small traders in the markets still sold essential goods...
As of the morning of September 13, 2024, most markets in the area have resumed operations; prices of goods at the markets increased for most essential items: rice, noodles, dry food, vermicelli, rice paper increased by 2-5%, cooking oil, sugar, milk, eggs increased by 3-6%, green vegetables, vegetables increased by 15-20%; meat, seafood increased by 8-15%. The volume of goods at the wholesale market is mainly vegetables and tubers with a quantity of 120-150 tons, fruits 30-40 tons, however, the consumption of vegetables and tubers is large, after only a few hours, the amount of goods has been distributed to localities, districts, and counties, while the output of fruits is low due to slow purchasing power. Regarding petroleum business activities, as of the morning of September 12, 2024, nearly 250 petroleum stations have resumed operations (except for VIPCO petroleum station which has reported and been approved by the Department of Industry and Trade, allowing it to temporarily suspend repairs until September 12, 2024). Petroleum prices are adjusted every Thursday and there is no phenomenon of price increases, hoarding, or local price fever.
Up to this point, commercial activities in the city have been stable, the supply of goods is abundant and diverse, there is no phenomenon of supply chain disruption, no phenomenon of hoarding, unreasonable price increases for essential goods to serve people's needs. To ensure the quantity of goods after Storm No. 3, supermarket systems such as Aeon, Go Hai Phong, Co.opMart Hai Phong, Winmart, MM Mega Market Hai Phong, Lan Chi supermarket, T & T Mart ... have increased the supply of goods for essential goods by 200-300% compared to normal days such as: water, rice, noodles, milk, cooking oil, sugar, vegetables, fruits ...., there is no phenomenon of price increases of goods before, during and after the storm at the supermarket system.
Currently, the city's Department of Industry and Trade is directing functional units under the Department to continue to inspect and monitor the supply and demand situation, regulate essential goods in the city to avoid shortages, increase prices of goods, and meet the needs of people and businesses./.
