Since November 1, the Vietnam Military History Museum has opened, welcoming about 40,000 visitors a day. Among them are many young people who choose this place as a destination to learn about the history, culture, origins and traditions of building and defending the country of the nation.

And just on the night of December 16, for the first time since its opening, nearly 1,000 young people from the Vietnam Youth Union had a chance to experience and visit the museum. Many young people were moved by the flag with historical images and artifacts displayed in the museum.

Many young people stood for a long time to take pictures with artifacts containing historical stories, such as the first national flag of Vietnam. The national flag is in the display room of the days of resistance for national independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam...

“A place to connect learning…”

Sharing with Tuoi Tre , Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Le - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Museum - expressed his joy at seeing the interest and love of visiting and learning about history among the people, especially young people and students.

"In the coming time, the museum will continue to improve and be accurate about history to meet the learning and research needs of people, especially young people, who come to the museum" - Lieutenant Colonel Le shared.

The positive signals in recent times for the museum show its rich history and the love of learning about national history among all classes of people, including the youth.

This signal, as Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Le said, is "not simply because this is a large, magnificent museum, but rather because of the interest in the history of building and defending the nation, and this is a success in recreating a part of history."

In the coming time, the Vietnam Military History Museum will continue to implement the contents of phase 2 with eight topics, including Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; Uncle Ho with the People's Armed Forces; weapons, flags, medals, etc. Along with that are 12 specialties such as navy, air force, artillery, armored vehicles, communications, etc.

The museum will also restore outdoors typical historical structures and relics of the country such as the Northern and Southern fighting villages, Bach Dang stake field, Dien Bien Phu battlefield, missile battlefield protecting Hanoi and Hai Phong, Cu Chi tunnels, etc.

“All of this will create a large landscape that connects in accordance with the purpose of the museum – a museum in a park. This will be a place for connection, learning, research, community activities, tourism, sightseeing and relaxation…” – Lieutenant Colonel Le shared.

In the near future, the museum is expected to have interactive experience areas and ecological community activity areas to organize heritage education programs for all classes, especially students of all levels, to learn about Vietnamese history.

There will be various military games such as pulling cannons, sailing on simulated warships on the lake recreating events such as historical battles, opening night tours, experiencing tank driving, flying planes, etc.

Cultivate love of country

Major General – Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Kien, former Commander of the Engineer Corps, said he was very moved when witnessing groups of people and tourists, especially young people, lining up to visit the Vietnam Military History Museum.

According to General Kien, before the museum was in its old location on Dien Bien Phu Street, due to the small area, the exhibition encountered many difficulties and was not comprehensive.

But since moving to the new location, with its large area and scale, it has been possible to display many artifacts, including weapons used throughout the history of building and defending the nation, especially in the two resistance wars against the US and France.

In addition, the museum's opening on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army is even more meaningful.

“I have had many opportunities to come here recently and witnessed many people, especially young people, happily waiting in line to visit the museum.

Coming here, people can admire the large-scale, massive works in terms of architecture and display. At the same time, come here to learn about the tradition of building and defending the country of our ancestors as well as the process of formation, construction and growth of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years.

I clearly felt that everyone was radiant, excited, and proud of the traditions of the nation, the army, and the museum itself. Through this, it has helped educate and foster patriotism in the younger generation,” General Kien stated.

General Kien said that by visiting the museum and seeing the artifacts with their own eyes, the younger generation will be more willing to fulfill their military service and join the army to protect the Fatherland when required.

“Through this museum is a comprehensive history lecture, very good education for generations, especially the young.

Besides fostering patriotism, this also shows faith in the army under the leadership of the Party, faith in protecting the Fatherland in the new situation," General Kien further emphasized.

Mr. Le Viet Truong (former deputy chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee):

Learn about the heroic history of the nation

I am very happy to see people, especially the younger generation, coming to the Vietnam Military History Museum recently. Whenever there is an opportunity, all people, especially the younger generation, want to learn about the heroic history of the nation and the achievements of our ancestors.

The large-scale investment and comprehensive and complete display of this museum has created more opportunities for young people to come and learn about the historical lessons, traditions of the nation and the heroic army.

Recently, historical stories from museums to rehearsals, performances, and exhibitions of defense weapons have always attracted a lot of public attention.

And from December 19 to 22, the 2024 International Defense Exhibition will once again be held at Gia Lam Military Airport (Hanoi).

With the theme “Peace, friendship, cooperation and development”, this is not only a key activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day; it is also an opportunity to promote and disseminate the capacity, technological potential, weapons and equipment produced by the Vietnamese defense industry to international friends and domestic people, seeking opportunities to export Vietnamese defense industry products.

The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of National Defense on a much larger scale in both area and number of guests compared to the first time in 2022.

According to information from the exhibition organizers, up to now, more than 140 companies from 27 countries have registered to display products, and more than 60,000 people have registered to visit.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, said the defense exhibition is to demonstrate the strength, determination to fight and win of the Vietnam People's Army to the world. Images of the forces at the exhibition will be spread around the world and is a festival that truly demonstrates the strength, unity and consensus of the Vietnamese army.

"The Vietnam People's Army is a fighting army, a production labor army, and also in the field of defense industry development to achieve self-reliance, self-reliance, self-defense, dual-use, and modernity," affirmed General Phan Van Giang.

Major General Hoang Kien assessed that each exhibition is an opportunity for the world and the people to clearly see the military and defense potential of Vietnam. At the same time, it also shows the products that the Vietnamese defense industry has produced.

He also said that previous exhibitions and certainly the 2024 exhibition will attract a lot of international friends as well as people and young people to visit and watch.

“Putting military equipment on display does not show that we are in a weapons and equipment race. It is to show the world and the people that the Vietnamese army has been equipped with and can produce modern equipment.

This will help people, especially the younger generation, who come to visit to feel proud and confident in the internal strength of the defense industry to produce and equip the army with increasingly modern equipment. At the same time, they will clearly see the strength of the army in being ready to protect the peace and territorial integrity of the Fatherland in all situations," General Kien emphasized.

According to Mr. Le Viet Truong - former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense and Security, organizing the International Defense Exhibition in 2024, especially on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, is of great significance.

This is also an event that has great appeal to international friends and people, especially the young. Through the exhibition, it will help to clearly see the development and achievements of Vietnam's defense industry.

Mr. Truong also emphasized that along with visiting the Vietnam Military History Museum, young people's attendance at the international defense exhibition will help improve their understanding of international military affairs and Vietnam's military and defense potential.

From there, convey the message of the great solidarity strength of the Vietnamese people and the heroic Vietnam People's Army to the people, especially the youth, and peace-loving friends around the world.

Many types of weapons made in Vietnam

The 2024 International Defense Exhibition will display defense products from 242 domestic and international units and enterprises. Among them are many famous defense units and corporations from countries with advanced and developed defense industries such as Russia, India, Israel, China, the US, etc.

In particular, on this occasion, Vietnam had the presence of 69 types of equipment and weapons from 77 units, which were products of "self-sufficient defense industry" such as the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel), factories Z111, Z113, Z131, Z175, member companies of the General Department of Defense Industry, companies under the Ministry of National Defense...

Notably, many new types of military equipment developed and produced by the Vietnamese defense industry were displayed for the first time at the exhibition.
