The most special model in Vietnamese fashion village

Nguyen Cao Minh Anh, born in 2002, is one of the most unique models in the Vietnamese fashion industry. The model has a congenital hormonal disorder.

Since childhood, Minh Anh always thought she was a girl, but when she reached puberty, her body began to develop in strange directions. Her family took her to the doctor and discovered that the male hormone ratio in her body was 51%. Minh Anh began treatment, and for 3 years, she was injected with male hormones every week.

“That was a really stressful time for me, because hormone injections make my body tired and weak both physically and mentally. I had a period of depression because I couldn’t figure out who I was. Sometimes I was so tired that I just wanted to sleep and never wake up again.

One time, my mother saw that I was not feeling well and asked me if I was tired. All the emotions and suffering that had been pent up inside me burst out. I hugged my mother and cried for a long time. And my mother said: Why don't you stop taking hormone injections? No matter what happens to you, we will accept it as long as you are healthy.

From that moment, I realized that as long as my parents believed in and loved me, that was enough, and what others said didn't matter. From then on, I accepted that I was different because I was special," Minh Anh confided.

Minh Anh also said that sharing her story publicly could greatly affect her life and work. “But I also believe that there will be many people who will always create conditions and support for cases like mine to reach the destination on the journey to find themselves again,” Minh Anh said.

Minh Anh is one of 300 models who have just participated in the casting for the fashion show called Wishes in the Sacred Place by designer Thach Linh, which will take place on February 20, 2024 (ie the 11th day of the Lunar New Year). At the show, 5 talented young designers Thach Linh, Nguyen Viet Hung, Nguyen Minh Cong, Nguyen Hung Bao and Thanh Thanh Nguyen will introduce their latest fashion collections.
