Rural industries have created many products that take advantage of local strengths and have been accepted by the market, such as: medicinal herbs, turmeric starch, natural essential oils, vermicelli, conical hats, steamed and dried fish, fish sauce, peanut oil, etc.
Along with taking advantage of available raw materials in the province, some establishments have boldly invested in machinery and applied science and technology to production.
However, besides the achieved results, rural industries in Quang Tri are still developing slowly, on a small scale, with low product quality and low competitiveness. Many rural industries are not bold enough to invest in production.
Mobilizing capital sources for investment in production and business development is mainly the self-capital of households. The application of science and technology to production in rural industries is still limited. Some groups of industries are still facing difficulties in development, are temporary and not sustainable. Some traditional occupations are at risk of disappearing...
To promote production development, improve competitiveness and added value for craft village products, in the coming time, Quang Tri province will focus on improving the quality of products in rural industries and craft villages. Promote production linkages, encourage the establishment of new enterprises, cooperatives and cooperative groups to improve production capacity, focus on building brands and trademarks, and increase competitiveness in the market.
Developing production in a concentrated direction associated with preservation, processing and consumption of products on the basis of promoting product advantages and regional advantages, contributing to the implementation of the new rural construction program and the "One commune, one product" program in the province.
Focus on preserving and developing traditional occupations, craft villages, and traditional craft villages, while developing new occupations suitable for each locality to diversify industry products, create jobs and increase income for people, and pay attention to and develop craft villages close to tourism and environmental protection.
Encourage the development of craft villages associated with tourist attractions and tourist routes to serve the needs of tourists for sightseeing and souvenir shopping.
Support craft villages with typical products that are known to tourists and the market to build stalls and display booths and sell products on tours and tourist routes.
