According to a reporter from Quang Tri Newspaper this afternoon, October 27, in the fields along Hieu River in the Cam Tuyen bridge area of Ba Thung village, there were many people wearing raincoats, hats, and holding bottles and jars to catch crickets in the flooded fields.
According to the people, the flood season is when crickets appear in large numbers, because when the water rises, crickets leave their burrows and seek higher ground for shelter, so you just need to walk along the riverbank, look around bushes and grass to catch them. Crickets during the flood season are considered a specialty dish, and sell for a high price, so many people rush to find and catch them to earn extra income during stormy days.
At the time of arrival, the reporter noticed many people risking their lives hunting crickets along the Hieu River while the water was rising and flowing rapidly; on Cam Tuyen Bridge, many curious people also stopped to observe.
Party Secretary and Chairman of Cam Tuyen Commune People's Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan said that to ensure safety during the flood season, in the area along Hieu River, the section across Cam Tuyen Bridge, the locality has organized forces to be on duty 24/7 and put up danger warning signs at flooded areas.
Regarding the situation of people hunting crickets here, we have reminded, informed and encouraged people not to hunt crickets in this area because the river water continues to rise, posing many potential risks.
