In his welcoming speech, Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that over the past century, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has accompanied the nation in every stage of history, from the days of fighting for independence and national reunification to the period of innovation and international integration. As a bridge of information, the press not only truthfully reflects all developments in social life, but also contributes to orienting ideology and creating motivation for the development of the homeland and country.

Quang Tri Press with 97 years of history has been playing an important role, accompanying the provincial government and people, contributing to promoting the image, attracting investment, criticizing policies and spreading beautiful stories about the people and culture of Quang Tri.

With the theme "Press accompanies the homeland and country", the seminar focused on discussing and deepening the role of the press in the spirit that the press must continue to be the vanguard force on the ideological front, reflecting honestly, promptly and deeply the country's issues, especially the movements of society in the context of innovation and international integration.

At the same time, we need to promote typical examples, good models, creative ways of doing things, and spread good values ​​in society. In the digital age, the press needs to proactively transform digitally and innovate its methods of operation to keep up with modern media trends...

Congratulating the seminar "Press accompanies the homeland and country", Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam affirmed that over the past 97 years, along with the first revolutionary newspaper named Striving published in 1928, Quang Tri press of all periods has always been present, always persistent, always in the spirit of the highest dedication and always in the position of a vanguard agency in the cause of building and protecting the country and homeland.

Quang Tri was liberated, the reconstruction, innovation and development of a land that suffered much pain due to war began, together with the press nationwide, Quang Tri press proactively took part, devoted itself to reflecting, encouraging, orienting public opinion and creating momentum for common development to reap new proud achievements of a center for renewable energy development, logistics, marine economy, international exchange gateway on the East-West Economic Corridor, of a sacred land of gratitude, affection and loyalty, a land carrying the aspiration for peace of the entire nation.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that, through this discussion program, we continue to clarify the role and responsibility of the press - the pioneering force on the ideological front in the new development period of the nation, deeply attached to the people's lives, living in the breath of the times, having a new vision suitable to the context of transformation. At the same time, we need to pay special attention to the generation of young journalists - those who will continue and promote the achievements of today's press. Strengthen the organization of professional festivals and press festivals in the future right on the historical land of Quang Tri to create more optimistic and bright impressions, encouraging the spirit of continuous improvement of journalists in all circumstances, meeting all new requirements and tasks.

Affirming the role of the press in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland

In his opening report, Editor-in-Chief of Quang Tri Newspaper and Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial Journalists Association Truong Duc Minh Tu said: 100 years ago - on June 21, 1925, leader Nguyen Ai Quoc founded Thanh Nien Newspaper - the predecessor newspaper that paved the way for the development of Vietnam's revolutionary press. Up to now, Vietnam's revolutionary press has developed continuously, effectively serving the resistance war against foreign invaders as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In the 100-year history of Vietnam's revolutionary press, Quang Tri press is proud to have gone through 97 years of formation and development. Since 1928 and 1929, a number of newspapers published by revolutionary predecessors in prisons appeared in Quang Tri, such as: Phan Dau and Tien Len. After the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930), the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee directly led and managed many newspapers such as: Ban Dan Cay, Front Tran Do, Tranh Dau, Cuu Quoc, Co Khoi Nghia, Tieng Vang, Nhan Dan, Thang Tam, Cuu Nuoc, Quang Tri Giai Phong and Vinh Linh Radio broadcasting to the southern border during the war years... These were truly sharp weapons that actively served the struggle for national independence and national unification.

Through the two long resistance wars of the nation, there have been many outstanding revolutionary predecessors, who are also typical writers such as comrades: Hoang Huu Dan, Le Duan, Tran Huu Duc, Le Chuong, Hoang Huu Chap, Truong Chi Cong...

After Quang Tri province was re-established, on December 22, 1989, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued Decision No. 87 QD-TV to establish the Vietnam Journalists Association of Quang Tri province. Entering the 36th year, through 7 congresses, from the beginning with only 18 journalist members of the two Journalists Associations of Quang Tri Radio and Quang Tri Newspaper when the province was re-established, to date, the Quang Tri Journalists Association has had 160 journalist members, operating in 5 branches.

Over the years, the Quang Tri Journalists Association and press agencies in the province have focused on widely disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies; encouraging and motivating patriotic emulation movements; propagating socio-economic development; maintaining national defense and security; and proactively fighting against plots and sabotage activities of hostile forces.

Quang Tri press is also an active information channel participating in social supervision, promoting critical thinking; detecting and fighting corruption, waste and negative manifestations, contributing to orienting social ideology and public opinion; regularly organizing the reception, processing and posting of citizens' feedback, creating a multi-dimensional forum for all classes of people...
