In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is currently at 155,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dong Nai increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday at 155,000 VND/kg.
In addition, pepper price today in Binh Phuoc increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently at 154,000 VND/kg.

Pepper supply is increasingly limited due to declining production in many major producing countries. Given this situation, many experts believe that the US imposition of reciprocal tariffs will hardly be able to curb the increase in pepper prices.
In Dak Lak province, which has the largest pepper acreage and output in the country, pepper and coffee reserves are currently running out. Data from Lao Dong newspaper shows that compared to the same period in 2024, the amount of green coffee beans here has decreased by more than 24,000 tons, while pepper has decreased by nearly 1,000 tons. The shortage of goods has clearly affected the province's export turnover in the first three months of 2025.
Mr. Phan Minh Thong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuc Sinh Group - a leading pepper exporter to the US - shared that the reaction of American customers was very quick after the news of the tax delay. While on April 9, many partners still expressed concerns, after just one night, on the morning of April 10, a series of orders were sent in, forcing Phuc Sinh's team to work three shifts continuously to meet the demand.
Mr. Thong said that the US does not produce pepper so it is completely dependent on imports, of which Vietnam accounts for a large proportion. In this context, businesses like Phuc Sinh only focus all their efforts on processing orders and maintaining a stable supply chain.
From a policy perspective, Mr. Thong emphasized the need for clearer support for domestic enterprises, especially manufacturing enterprises. He cited that export enterprises used to borrow USD at an interest rate of just over 1%, while domestic manufacturing enterprises had to borrow VND at an interest rate of up to 9-10%. According to him, this difference does not create fair conditions for enterprises to develop evenly.
In addition, Mr. Thong said that if Vietnam had a specialized commodity exchange, this would create conditions for businesses to be more proactive in their business and distribution strategies. The exchange could help them minimize tariff risks and regulate the flow of goods more effectively in the international market, no longer relying heavily on a single market like the US.
