Mrs. Trang said that for the past 5 years her husband had been battling cancer. He went for a check-up 2 days ago but unexpectedly he passed away quietly this afternoon.
Artist Xuan Quan's full name is Tran Van Quan, born in 1961 in Saigon. He devoted his whole life to the art of hát bội, notably playing the role of Trinh An in the play Tram Trinh An .
Artist Hoang Vinh, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Opera Art Theater, shared with Tuoi Tre Online that the passing of artist Xuan Quan is a great loss to the art of opera.
He and his wife are two talented artists of the theater. Mr. Xuan Quan retired a few years ago. Although he is retired, he misses his job and is still active.
Artist Xuan Quan and People's Artist Huu Danh are responsible teachers, always ready to help the theater train young people.
In addition, Mr. Xuan Quan also teaches dance to students of the traditional theater department of the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City and several other schools.
He was loved by generations of students because he was very kind and devoted. Whenever students had questions, he would explain them thoroughly and help them with all his heart.

Hearing the news of artist Xuan Quan's passing, artist Binh Tinh emotionally wrote on his personal page: "I bow my head to bid farewell to teacher Xuan Quan, the person who taught me wonderful swordplay and the success of the role of Bui Thi Xuan in the play Nu Tuong Tay Son ".
Artist Xuan Quan's funeral will be held at his home in District 12.
