Improve the efficiency of digital transformation of collective economy

Keeping pace with science, technology and digital technology, in recent times, the collective economic sector in the province, with the core being cooperatives and cooperative groups, has focused on digital transformation through the application of information technology in operations, production and business. Thereby, increasing product value, economic efficiency, helping cooperatives quickly access the market.

Breakthrough from digital technology

In 2020, Thanh Nam Tea Cooperative in Thanh Son town, Thanh Son district was established with 15 members. With the desire to bring users the best tea products meeting VietGAP standards, the Cooperative has promoted and mobilized people to change the way of making tea based on traditional experience to applying technology and digital transformation in production and business. The Cooperative has introduced digital systems such as: Goods management, accounting, e-commerce, traceability... to reduce costs and optimize human resources. At the same time, it is equipped with a system of modern processing machinery and equipment with a total investment of over 4 billion VND.

With good raw materials, modern machinery, and a correct brand building perspective, Thanh Nam tea products quickly achieved success in the domestic tea market with 16 tea products, of which 2 products have been recognized as 3-star OCOP products. The tea products of the cooperative are all packaged according to standards, with labels and electronic stamps for traceability, exported to Saudi Arabia, Japan and expanded to consumption on e-commerce trading floors, social networks, in the system of stores and supermarkets in and outside the province.

Thanh Son district currently has 44 cooperatives, mainly operating in the agricultural sector. To help cooperatives adapt to digital transformation, the district People's Committee has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote propaganda and training for leaders and members of cooperatives on approaches and applications of digital transformation in management, operation, consumption of goods, and traceability of products; at the same time, introduce them to participate in training courses organized by provincial departments and branches. The district has coordinated to guide production establishments and cooperatives with products that meet VietGAP standards, in the organic direction, to digitize production processes, build a product traceability system; post OCOP products and key agricultural products for sale on e-commerce platforms.

With diverse production and business lines, providing seeds, fertilizers, biological pesticides, producing safe vegetables, tubers and fruits according to the season and especially growing and producing green onions towards brand development and deep processing, the application of information technology and digital transformation in production, business and product consumption activities is an effective solution for Dat To Seed Agricultural Cooperative, Lam Thao town, Lam Thao district. Mr. Phan Van Ly - Director of the Cooperative said: “We have converted 8.6 hectares of ineffective crops to a model of cultivating seasonal vegetables, tubers and fruits and successfully developed 3.6 hectares of green onions with an output of over 100 tons of onions/year. At the end of 2023, the Cooperative has promoted and consumed products on digital platforms. Thanks to that, it has contributed to increasing the annual revenue of the Cooperative to over 1.2 billion VND”.

In 2025, the Cooperative will continue to increase the application of high technology and digital transformation in production such as building greenhouses, investing in production and deep processing equipment, and diversifying products. At the same time, it will promote trade, advertise and introduce products on digital platforms, and link product consumption according to the value chain to expand and develop the market.

Comrade Dang Thi Thu Hien - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Thao district said: As a locality with strengths in agricultural development, agricultural products and OCOP products produced by cooperatives and cooperatives of Lam Thao district are all quality products from cultivation and livestock farming. In order for products to be accepted by the market, the locality encourages establishments and cooperatives to constantly innovate, apply science and technology to production, and improve product designs and quality.

Applying 4.0 technology and science and technology to production and business has helped Dat To Seed Agricultural Cooperative improve product quality, connect promotions, expand consumption markets, bringing high economic efficiency.

Promoting digital transformation in cooperatives

The province currently has 1 Cooperative Union (CTU), 1,166 cooperative groups and 620 cooperatives operating with a total of over 108,000 members. The average revenue reaches 3.5 billion VND/cooperative/year, creating regular jobs for 6,141 workers with an average regular income of 5 million VND/person/month. Adapting to the general trend, the digitalization of production and business activities has initially changed the organization and management of cooperative activities compared to traditional management methods; improving the quality and efficiency of cooperative operations. Many cooperatives have boldly invested in and applied new technical advances, information technology, high technology in production, processing and consumption of products. In particular, focusing on applying automatic irrigation technology, spraying pesticides by remote-controlled aircraft, closed livestock systems, building electronic care diaries; applying information technology in management and operation; Over 70% of cooperatives promote and consume products through digital platforms for e-commerce.

Optimizing the benefits that digital transformation applications bring to the tea production and trading process, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of Da Hen Tea Production and Processing Cooperative, Cam Khe District affirmed: Digital transformation also helps tea makers manage production and consumption more effectively. Along with the use of QR-Code, consumers are more secure when they can contact the production facility directly. With just a smartphone with Internet connection, customers can look up product information to choose the best quality products at reasonable prices.

Implementing the "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030" according to Decision 749/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, agriculture is one of the 8 priority areas for implementing digital transformation. Therefore, the provincial Department of Agriculture has been coordinating with localities to promote propaganda and raise awareness among people and cooperatives about the role and importance of digital transformation in serving cultivation; supporting farmers in using information technology equipment; training, improving qualifications, capacity to access and apply digital transformation into production. At the same time, coordinating with departments, branches and units to introduce digital platforms and e-commerce platforms to help people grasp knowledge, promote production, processing and consumption of agricultural products in the digital environment, contributing to product promotion and gradually transforming agricultural production methods towards smartness, modernity and higher added value.

As a bridge to support cooperatives and cooperatives in applying digital transformation technology, in 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union organized 37 training courses to improve capacity and skills in cooperative management, propaganda skills, trade promotion, digital transformation application, building and protecting cooperative product brands, building OCOP products and propagating the 2023 Cooperative Law, new policy documents for 6,028 managers, members and employees in cooperatives. Continue to preside over the implementation of the scientific project: Promoting the application of management systems and tools to improve productivity and quality in cooperatives in the province.

Along with that, the Provincial Cooperative Union has increased support for cooperatives to introduce and promote products widely on information and propaganda channels; connected more than 40 cooperatives to participate in e-commerce trading floors and supermarkets, OCOP store systems in and outside the province; organized and supported more than 150 cooperatives, cooperative unions, and cooperative groups with nearly 300 products to participate in promotion at many fairs and events; supported video production, building sales websites, management software, sales tracking, Fanpage to promote and consume products for 8 cooperatives; consulted and supported 97 cooperatives to participate in production linkage projects applying new scientific and technical advances and linking with value chains. Continue to deploy consulting service packages, support accounting, financial management, electronic tax declaration... operate and maintain the booths of 50 cooperatives with nearly 120 products, goods and services on the Phu Tho province e-commerce trading floor: giaothuong.net.vn.

Comrade Vu Thi Minh Tam - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Cooperative Union affirmed: In order to increase the value of products, at the same time, strengthen the organization of exchanges and experiences in adapting to the process of digital transformation, technology, new production and business methods and promote opportunities for trade, cooperation, and market connection inside and outside the province; in the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to accompany cooperatives in the process of managing and operating the development of collective economy, continue to promote training on digital transformation, development, and improvement of product quality... At the same time, actively train and improve the operational capacity of cooperatives through training courses to help cooperatives and members apply technology in the production and consumption of agricultural products, especially in accessing consumer markets, towards sustainable development.
