Provincial Cooperative Union accompanies cooperatives in development

In the trend of the country's economy developing strongly and integrating deeply, the collective economic sector (KTTT) and cooperatives (HTX) increasingly affirm their important role in promoting socio-economic development, ensuring social security and improving people's lives. As an organization representing, protecting rights, consulting, supporting development, innovating cooperative operation methods, promoting chain linkages, developing commodity production according to the value chain; promoting digital transformation and aiming at sustainable development, actively contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the province.

Provincial Cooperative Union accompanies cooperatives in development

Tea products of Long Coc Safe Tea Processing Cooperative, Long Coc Commune, Tan Son District were introduced and promoted at the 2025 Phu Tho Province OCOP Product and Trade Fair.

The period 2020-2025 is an important period marking outstanding results in the development of the province's collective economic sector, demonstrating the core role of the Cooperative Union in guiding, supporting and accompanying cooperatives. This is also the period when Phu Tho province focuses on implementing strategic goals to turn the collective economy into an important economic component, effectively contributing to the comprehensive development of the province.

In the past 5 years, the province has established 273 new cooperatives, bringing the total number of cooperatives to 752, reaching 183% of the plan; of which 460 cooperatives are members of the Provincial Cooperative Union. On average, the province establishes 55 cooperatives each year, with a variety of industries, from agriculture to small-scale industry, trade, services and credit. The number of effectively operating cooperatives has increased significantly, with 390 cooperatives classified as fair and good, accounting for 67.8% of the total number of cooperatives eligible for evaluation. The average revenue of each cooperative reached nearly 3 VND, an increase of 20.1% compared to 2020, and the average profit reached 201 million VND/cooperative, an increase of 18%. The province currently has 108,426 cooperative members, with the average income of regular workers reaching 5.5 million VND/person/month.

Developing production according to the value chain is also one of the bright spots in the province's economic development work. Currently, the province has 154 cooperatives producing according to the value chain, associated with key products such as tea, grapefruit, rice noodles, sour meat, etc. Many cooperatives have applied high technology, innovated production thinking and improved product quality to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets. Notably, out of a total of 306 OCOP products in the province, 127 products are from cooperatives, accounting for 41.5%. These OCOP products have contributed to increasing the value of goods by 10-15% after being recognized. In addition, the Provincial Cooperative Union has also supported 50 newly established cooperatives with an amount of VND 500 million, supported the construction of headquarters for 12 cooperatives with a total amount of VND 650 million, supported 60 cooperatives to improve packaging and product labels, and supported 45 cooperatives to build sustainable production chains and apply high technology.

One of the important activities of the Provincial Cooperative Union is trade promotion. The Union has supported 275 cooperatives with more than 8,000 products to participate in 110 large and small fairs nationwide; deployed support for the construction of 3 stores to introduce products of the collective economic sector in Viet Tri city, Ha Hoa and Tan Son districts. In particular, the Provincial Cooperative Union has also assigned specialized staff to monitor districts, cities and towns to advise and provide timely support to cooperatives in the process of operation and development.

The model of forestry seedling nursery cooperative in Tram Than commune, Phu Ninh district brings high efficiency.

In the period of 2020-2025, 149 training courses were organized for 18,663 trainees and 58 more courses were opened with 6,567 trainees who are cooperative officials and members. Notably, many practical contents such as cooperative management, marketing, brand building, application of digital transformation in advertising, promotion and product introduction have been integrated, contributing to improving production, business and integration capacity for cooperatives. Funds managed by the Provincial Cooperative Union have disbursed capital for 388 loan projects, with a total loan turnover of VND 82,868 billion. The Provincial Cooperative Union has also effectively coordinated with departments and branches in advising the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee on the contents of collective economy and cooperative development.

Cooperatives not only develop effective production but also contribute positively to the construction of new rural areas and the development of traditional craft villages. Many cooperatives have become the nucleus of the community, helping to preserve and develop culture, increasing income for rural people. In the process of building new rural areas, cooperatives have contributed to preserving cultural values, helping to stabilize people's lives and promote the local economy.

To continue promoting the role of collective economy and cooperatives in the coming period, the Provincial Cooperative Union has identified 6 key tasks: Strengthening propaganda work, raising awareness of the benefits and roles of new-style cooperatives, and launching a movement to develop collective economy extensively from the province to the grassroots level; Coordinating to advise on perfecting cooperative development policies, especially policies to support cooperative development according to the Law on Cooperatives in 2023; Strengthening support for trade promotion, connecting product consumption for cooperatives, and organizing annual voting for typical cooperative products at the provincial level; Training and fostering of cooperative staff will be focused on, with the goal of improving management capacity and production linkage skills along the value chain; Supporting cooperatives in innovating production methods, digital transformation in management and production, building brands and accessing land, financial and technological resources to increase competitiveness; Strengthening the organizational structure, streamlining and efficiency, building a team of qualified and capable cadres to meet the requirements of economic development in the new period.

The Provincial Cooperative Union has been performing well its role as a focal point, a bridge, and a reliable support for cooperatives. With the attention of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the participation of the entire political system and the efforts of cooperatives, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to affirm its central role in developing the collective economy, contributing to building Phu Tho to become more developed, civilized, modern and sustainable in the future.
