On the evening of April 13, the Vietnamese futsal team (ranked 31st in the world ) had a friendly match with the world's 7th ranked team Kazakhstan at Lanh Binh Thang Stadium (District 11).
Although unable to bring the strongest squad, the Kazakhstan futsal team is still very strong as there are still 6 players who played in the loss to Argentina in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. Among them is world-famous goalkeeper Leo Higuita.
Facing a very strong opponent, the Vietnamese futsal team played with great confidence. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan also contributed extremely beautiful plays without having to field their strongest team.
It was not until the 13th minute that the Kazakhstan futsal team sent their number one goalkeeper Leo Higuita onto the field. However, this Brazilian goalkeeper had not yet had time to show his talent when he had to pick the ball out of the net in the 14th minute due to a mistake by his teammate. From Abdirassi's bad pass, Tu Minh Quang seized the opportunity to score from home with an accurate long-range shot.
Trailing 0-1, the Kazakhstan futsal team increased the pace of the match in the beginning of the second half to find an equalizer. They continuously passed the ball, causing the defenders of the Vietnamese futsal team to lose control, but they were unable to take advantage of the opportunities they had.

In the 25th minute, Albert Akbalikov passed the ball smoothly but Nursultan's shot hit the post. Just a few seconds later, it was Albert Akbalikov's turn to take a penalty kick that hit the post after Ngoc Anh fouled the opponent in the penalty area.
After a few minutes of playing defensively, the Vietnamese futsal team gradually regained control of the game and had a chance to score. However, Thai Huy, in a face-off with goalkeeper Kanat, failed to finish in the 29th minute.
Three minutes after this missed opportunity, the Vietnamese futsal team conceded a goal from a narrow-angle shot by Karmennov Yerzhan, helping Kazakhstan tie the score 1-1.
With nearly 2 minutes left in the match, coach Diego Giustozzi let the Vietnamese futsal team play power-play (without a goalkeeper). As a result, the home team scored a goal to raise the score to 2-1 thanks to Doan Phat in the 39th minute.
With only 1 minute and 23 seconds left in the match, it was Kazakhstan's futsal team's turn to play power-play. This created an opportunity for goalkeeper Ho Van Y to score with 51 seconds left and Cong Vien completed the 4-1 victory for the Vietnam futsal team with only 8 seconds left.
On April 15, the Vietnamese futsal team will meet Kazakhstan in a friendly match at Thai Son Nam Stadium, District 8.
