According to the report of the Provincial Steering Committee 398, before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin and in the first 4 months of 2024, the functional forces have strengthened the review and grasp of the market situation; implemented well professional measures to inspect and check the quality and food hygiene and safety standards; strictly and promptly handled acts of trading in smuggled, counterfeit and poor quality goods. During the peak period of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the functional forces discovered and handled 269 cases. Of which, illegal trading of banned and smuggled goods was 41 cases; counterfeit and fake goods, intellectual property violations were 9 cases; trade and tax fraud was 219 cases; prosecuted 25 cases/37 defendants. The total amount of money paid to the State budget was nearly 3.9 billion VND.
Regarding inspection and handling in the first 4 months of 2024, the authorities detected and handled 426 cases, a decrease of 103 cases compared to the same period in 2023, including 46 cases of illegal trading of banned and smuggled goods; 12 cases of counterfeit and fake goods, intellectual property violations; 368 cases of tax and trade fraud; 25 cases/155 defendants prosecuted. The total amount of money paid to the State budget is over 6 billion VND.
The Provincial Market Management Department and the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns of the province signed the Coordination Regulations.
After listening to the members of Steering Committee 389 and localities speaking, discussing and proposing solutions to effectively implement anti-smuggling and anti-trade fraud, Director General of the General Department of Market Management Nguyen Huu Linh highly appreciated the close direction of Phu Tho province in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. At the same time, he emphasized that in the coming time, the provincial Market Management Department needs to continue to identify the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods as an important task, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. Carry out the task with focus, key points, substance and effectiveness, in which special attention is paid to combating trade fraud in e-commerce, controlling e-cigarettes, monitoring the gold market, etc.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai requested units, members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 and districts, cities and towns to continue to proactively grasp the situation and market prices based on their functions, tasks and management areas; organize inspections and control of production and business establishments, focusing on essential consumer goods, especially those affecting consumers' health to promptly detect and strictly handle violations in accordance with regulations. Continue to monitor the implementation of regulations on electronic invoices at retail gasoline stores; focus on training, knowledge development, application of information technology in combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. Continue to complete the coordination regulations between the Market Management force and localities. Strengthen coordination between agencies and localities in forecasting and grasping the situation, promptly detecting and strictly handling violations of intellectual property rights, smuggling, trade fraud, etc.

At the conference, 2 collectives and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2023 were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Head of the National Steering Committee 389. The Provincial Market Management Department and the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns signed the Coordination Regulations in leading and directing the Market Management Teams to carry out market management work in the area.
