Regarding the case of Vu Van Tuan K., a 7th grade student at Dai Dong Secondary School (Dai Dong Commune, Thach That District , Hanoi) who was beaten by a group of people and hospitalized, at noon on October 26, we were present at this male student's house.
Relatives and neighbors were present at Ms. Mai's house to ask about K's health.
In the small level 4 house without many valuable items, many relatives and neighbors were present to inquire about the student's health. Seeing the crowd, K. shouted, scolded and called his relatives "thugs".
The male student even asked his mother to call a taxi to take him out and refused to stay home. When the request was not fulfilled, K. got angry and left, forcing his family to chase after him to persuade him.
Sharing with Thanh Nien , Ms. Kieu Thi Mai (46 years old, K.'s mother) said that in the past few days, K.'s condition has shown signs of worsening. K. has been acting unusually aggressive, sometimes not recognizing his parents or sister...
Ms. Mai is sad when her son has panic attacks and is mentally unstable.
According to Ms. Mai, K.'s unusual behavior was discovered by her family in early September. K. had been beaten by her friends for a long time, but her family did not know because K. hid it, afraid that if she told, she would be beaten more. Ms. Mai also had to go to work to take care of her two older daughters who were in college, so she could not pay much attention to K.
"Around mid-September, while I was shopping, I received a call from my child, saying "I have a terrible headache, I hit my head and am going to die, please take me to the emergency room". Seeing that, I hurried home, called a car to take my child to Bach Mai Hospital for examination. A day later, because Bach Mai Hospital was too crowded, I asked to take my child to Thach That District Hospital for treatment for another 1-2 days. When I saw that my child was better, I took him home", Ms. Mai said.
Mother burst into tears when talking about her son
At home, K. became ill and screamed, so Ms. Mai took her son to the National Children's Hospital. There, the doctor concluded that K. suffered from psychological trauma and dissociative disorder. Ms. Mai was then shocked when her son said that he had been abused by his classmates for many months. In particular, when she received a clip of K. being beaten by a group of classmates, she was extremely heartbroken.
"My heart aches for my child. Seeing him having headaches and screaming, I wish I could bear the pain with him. Many sleepless nights, I couldn't imagine my child being beaten so much by his friends. I'm extremely worried that his awareness is no longer complete," Ms. Mai said sadly.
The mother added that there were nights when K. screamed and couldn't sleep, so she had to give her child sedatives.
Difficult family circumstances
According to relatives, K. is the youngest child, with two older sisters who are studying at university. Because K.'s father is in poor health and has limited ability to work, Mai is the main breadwinner of the family. Every day, she has to stay up late and wake up early, selling at the market to support K.'s three sisters' education.
K's house has nothing valuable.
"For the past half month, Ms. Mai has had to stay home to take care of her child and has not been able to work. Seeing the family's situation, we feel very sorry," said a relative of the family.
Ms. Mai said she only hopes K. recovers quickly and that the families of the 8 male students who assaulted K. must take responsibility for helping her treat her son's illness.
"Yesterday, there was information that the family of the students who beat my child had given 800 million VND, but my family did not accept it. Why is there such false information?", Ms. Mai added, sharing that the families of the students who beat K. had only supported 50 million VND, divided into 2 times, to treat K. in the hospital.
Previously, on October 25, a clip appeared on social media recording a scene where a group of friends surrounded a male student, pushed him against a wall, and repeatedly hit him in the head. As a result, the male student had to be hospitalized in a state of panic.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach That District, said that the authorities have asked Dai Dong Secondary School to clarify the incident. Parents of the students who participated in beating K. have come to apologize to the victim's family.
