While iPhone users await Apple’s Siri Intelligence upgrade, the Gemini app has received a major update that adds lock screen widgets and direct access to Control Center. The update is available for both iOS and iPadOS to make Gemini AI features more accessible to users.
iPhone and iPad users need to update to the latest Gemini app from the App Store
With this update, iPhone users no longer need to open the app or use shortcuts to interact with Gemini. According to 9to5Google , the app now offers six lock screen widgets, including typing commands; talking directly; opening the mic, using the camera; sharing photos, and sharing files.
Notably, this is a major update after Google released its own iPhone app last November. The app has a main shortcut that allows users to open Gemini and enter reminders. Additionally, users can also use any of the six Gemini shortcuts as buttons in the corner of their iPhone's lock screen.
Gemini version 1.2025.0762303 update is now available on the App Store, bringing not only new shortcuts but also introducing the Deep Research feature for Gemini Advanced users, along with a number of UI improvements and bug fixes.
Galaxy S25 users can also chat with Gemini
Not just iPhone users, Samsung users have also received a new upgrade from Gemini. After becoming the default voice assistant on the Galaxy S25 series, Gemini is also being more deeply integrated with Samsung's Now Bar, which is only available on the Galaxy S25 running One UI 7.
Interacting with Gemini can be done on the Galaxy S25 lock screen
Now Bar is an interactive widget that sits at the bottom of the lock screen on devices running One UI 7 to provide quick access to popular apps and services. The Now Bar previously worked with the Bixby voice assistant, but is now getting a major upgrade as it integrates more deeply into Gemini.
User @TechA7mad spotted the feature on his Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Now Bar now shows Gemini Live's status, indicating whether it's listening or waiting. The Gemini Live feature allows users to interact with Google's AI in a conversational way, meaning Galaxy users can pause and resume Gemini Live sessions right from the lock screen.
It's not yet clear whether this integration will roll out globally, but the fact that it's already starting to appear on Galaxy S25 users' devices suggests an expansion is coming.
