Male patient NT (6 years old, living in Binh Duong ) was transferred to Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) in critical condition due to electric shock.
On March 4, specialist doctor Huynh Thi Thuy Kieu (Deputy Head of the Emergency Department - Children's Hospital 2) said that the department had just received and was actively treating male patient T.
Taking the medical history, the family said that while T. was playing, he accidentally touched the stainless steel table next to the B40 mesh, which was in contact with the power line. After touching it, T. passed out at the table, and was discovered about 5 minutes later by his family. T. was transferred to a local medical facility, given first aid, and transferred to Children's Hospital 2.
After being actively resuscitated by doctors in the Emergency Department, the patient's condition was still very serious.
According to Dr. Kieu, every year the Emergency Department receives about 3-5 cases of children having electrical accidents. The cause is often due to the family repairing electrical equipment, the child accidentally steps on or touches it. This is an extremely dangerous accident, which can affect human life immediately.

"Electric current penetrating the human body will cause damage to organs, from the point of contact with the current causing burns, nerve damage, heart damage causing arrhythmia, cardiac arrest and all other organs. In addition to acute damage, electrical accidents can leave long-term sequelae on the nervous system, heart, kidneys, musculoskeletal system...", said Dr. Kieu.
In order to prevent children from similar accidents, Dr. Kieu emphasized that parents should keep a close eye on their children and always keep them within sight. When repairing electrical appliances at home, the power source must be turned off or children must not come into contact with it. In particular, electrical appliances must be kept in a safe place, out of reach of children. Electrical outlets must be covered or equipped with plugs to ensure the safety of children, especially children at the age of exploration.
