Nam Dinh Club reached a preliminary agreement to recruit striker Nguyen Van Toan with a three-year contract.
Nguyen Van Toan returns to V-League after a year playing for Seoul E-land in K-League 2.
Van Toan will return to Vietnam at the end of this month to negotiate some remaining details before signing a contract with Nam Dinh. He joins the Thien Truong Stadium team on a free transfer, as his contract with Seoul E-land is about to expire.
Van Toan grew up in the first generation of HAGL Arsenal JMG Academy with Nguyen Cong Phuong, Luong Xuan Truong, Nguyen Tuan Anh... He played in V-League since 2015 when he was still wearing the U19 Vietnam shirt. A year later, he debuted in the Vietnam national team shirt.
Van Toan's contract with HAGL expired at the end of 2022 and he decided not to renew it. Nam Dinh offered him a contract but Van Toan chose to go to Seoul E-land out of respect for the boss Doan Nguyen Duc and did not want to move directly to another team in the V-League.
Van Toan was unlucky, suffering from injuries many times during his year at Seoul E-land. However, he still played 10 matches, including eight in K-League 2.
Nam Dinh is actively "hunting" for players to prepare for the new season, after an unsuccessful performance in V-League 2023. The team from Thanh Nam spent a lot of money to recruit a series of players such as Nguyen Huu Tuan, Tran Nguyen Manh, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy, Hendrio... but did not achieve the expected results. After losing to CAHN in the fourth round of Group A, the second phase of V-League 2023, the team no longer has much hope of winning the championship when it only has 23 points, nine points behind the top team Hanoi. In the National Cup, Nam Dinh lost to Viettel 0-2 in the quarterfinals.
