I want to study Graphic Design but I don't know if this profession requires college.
Hi everyone. I am currently in 10th grade in Ho Chi Minh City, and want to become a Concept Artist (a person responsible for coming up with ideas, designing, and creating shapes for characters and landscapes in movies, games, etc.) or an Illustrator.
I am confused about where to continue my studies after high school. Some people will study at a training center and then go to work. Some people will study at university and then start looking for a job.
Currently, I am still confused about the university admission process. Reading the information, I see that Graphic Design majors are mainly considered based on the H and V blocks (combining high school graduation exam scores with the aptitude subject of Drawing). But I am studying towards the A00 group (Math, Physics, Chemistry) because high school does not teach Drawing. Should I go to a center to study Drawing? If not, which school in Ho Chi Minh City can I apply to for the Graphic Design major if I study block A?
If you don't go to college, start learning Graphic Design with online courses from high school to have a solid foundation, then study at a training center, create many products to put in your Portfolio, can you apply directly to companies without a college degree?
I feel like this is a shortcut and much better than going to university because it only focuses on learning things related to Graphic Design.
Looking forward to receiving advice from everyone. Thank you.
