Reporting to the Capital Security Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Quang Anh (Giang Vo, Ba Dinh, Hanoi) said that because he had just lost his wedding ring, in early March he texted Huy Thanh Jewelry's fanpage on Facebook to order a similar gold ring. Huy Thanh Jewelry quoted him a price of nearly 11 million VND for an 18k gold ring according to the model he requested.

When he asked about the weight, the staff said it was about 9 centimeters (0.9 taels) of gold.

Although he had previously bought an identical wedding ring in 2022 for just over 4 million VND, because this was a commemorative ring, Mr. Quang Anh still decided to buy it again at a much more expensive price. However, it is worth mentioning that when he received the product, he checked the invoice and discovered that the ring only weighed... 6 centimeters.

Frustrated, he went to the store to ask, but received a very roundabout way of handling it. The store staff said that although they were on the same system, the online seller was not related to the store.

Mr. Quang Anh continued to call the hotline number on the fanpage, but this side also refused, saying that this was also the store's hotline number, not the online sales department's, and asked him to text the fanpage for processing.

Although very upset, Mr. Quang Anh still persisted in texting, but the answer disappointed him. Accordingly, Huy Thanh Jewelry staff replied: "We will report the approximate weight because gold is in liquid form, so when pouring into the mold, the exact weight will not be applied. After the product is completed, we will re-weigh it and have the specific weight."

“I do not agree with Huy Thanh Jewelry’s explanation, because when I asked about the weight, they clearly stated that it was more than 9 grams of gold, which is nearly 1 tael of gold. At that time, 1 tael of 18k gold was only 7.5 million VND/tael, plus the manufacturing cost, I agreed to buy the ring for nearly 11 million VND, but when I received it, it was only 6 grams of gold. At this price, it was too expensive and unacceptable,” Quang Anh said indignantly.

When he did not agree with this explanation, the employee said that he would receive the information and report it to the manager for a quick response. Mr. Quang Anh said that if he did not receive a satisfactory answer, he would soon file a report with the authorities to clarify the matter.

Contacting Huy Thanh Jewelry to clarify the customer's feedback, the reporter was informed by the staff that the system manager currently has no information about how to handle this customer's case, and will contact them again when available.
