Chu market area (Cho Chu town, Dinh Hoa district) is a small valley nestled at the foot of a towering mountain range, surrounded by two streams flowing around.

According to stories passed down by the locals, in 1870, Luong Tam Ky - a deputy general in the "Taiping Heavenly Kingdom" uprising movement of Chinese farmers - after leading the remnants of his army across the border into Vietnam, commanded his troops to attack and occupy Dinh Hoa, using it as his lair. When arriving at Dinh Hoa, realizing that the valley at the foot of the limestone mountain range had favorable terrain, the Chinese in this army chose this place as their residence. Not long after that, many Kinh people from the lowlands who had fled the French army came here and found that they could do business, so they gathered to form a small market. Then naturally, they took this place as a place to stop and make a living. That small market was Chu market, or popularly known as "the wandering market".

Chu Market is a place that witnessed the simultaneous oppression and exploitation of the French colonialists and the remnants of the peasant uprising in China (led by Luong Tam Ky). This is also the place that witnessed the heroic struggle of our army and people to liberate the yoke of domination and seize power. Although Chu Market today has changed a lot, every trading day, people from all over the villages still flock to the market under the shade of the old banyan tree...

The banyan tree at Chu market was once the site of a rally by thousands of local people to overthrow the rule of French colonialists and their feudal puppet government.
Three kiosks were built during the French colonial period and have now been upgraded to be spacious.
Chu Market today has thousands of items, meeting most of the needs of people in the mountainous district of Dinh Hoa.
Every month, Chu market meets six times on the 3rd, 13th, 23rd and 8th, 18th, 28th of the solar calendar.
Dao people have been selling traditional medicine for decades at Chu market.
Selling fabric is one of the oldest professions that still exists today.
Going to Chu market on market days to buy traditional cakes has become a habit of many Dinh Hoa residents.
