According to the French Embassy, on the morning of February 27, two new exhibition rooms named “My Son” and “Dong Duong” of the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture will be inaugurated with the presence of leaders of Da Nang City, the Institute of Social Sciences, the French Ambassador to Vietnam and the École Française d’Extrême-Orient.
These two new galleries will further honor the value of the treasure trove of artifacts related to the My Son and Dong Duong relics in Quang Nam - Da Nang. Most of the artifacts are restored and will be introduced in a new display design using modern museological techniques. The two galleries were renovated and newly designed by foreign museum experts, in harmony with the original architecture of the Da Nang Cham Museum - a building built in 1919. The two galleries are the result of a large-scale program in the museum sector since 2005 between France and Vietnam. This program was implemented right after the major exhibition of the Guimet Museum of Asian Art in France called "Treasures of Vietnamese Art - Cham Sculpture". This project is also a close cooperation between Vietnamese museum staff and museum experts, specializing in display design, graphics, and lighting from the Guimet Museum of Asian Art and the École Française d'Extrême-Orient.
