On August 25, the French newspaper La Tribune published an article stating that the decision to expand the BRICS group of emerging economies will form a powerful bloc with the ability to greatly impact the international situation.

The article emphasized: “The expansion of BRICS is a challenge for Western countries.”
Accordingly, the expansion will take place in the next few months and gradually turn BRICS into a "powerful" bloc, with a voice in international politics and protecting the interests of developing countries in the global economy.
La Tribune also commented that time will "prove whether this is a historic turning point or not", and considered this decision of BRICS a "victory for Beijing and Moscow".
“In addition to the World Bank (WB) or the International Monetary Fund (IMF), developing countries now know that they will be able to turn to another organization, BRICS,” the article asserted.
At the recent Summit in South Africa, BRICS leaders decided to admit Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE as new official members, starting from January 1, 2024.
More than 40 countries have expressed interest in joining the bloc, of which 22 have made formal requests to join BRICS. Current BRICS members (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) account for 40% of the world's population and 25% of global GDP.
