On December 17, the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party Bloc of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review Party building work in 2024 and summarize the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee dated October 25, 2017.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People - Government - Party Bloc Nguyen Thi Kim Dung said that up to now, the unit has completed 7 key task groups, carried out 35/35 activities and achieved 7/9 targets (1/9 targets are estimated to be achieved).

Ms. Hang Thi Thu Nga, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party Bloc of Ho Chi Minh City, said that after the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, the grassroots party organization and the Party Committee team were regularly consolidated, the discipline and quality of Party Committee activities, Party cell activities, and Party Committee activities were deeply concerned and improved year by year.

The work of developing new party members is focused on. Accordingly, since its establishment, in 17 years, the Party Committee of the bloc has developed 6,983 new party members. This work does not lower standards and quality for the sake of targets, but regularly screens and removes unqualified party members from the Party according to Directive No. 28-CT/TW.

Mr. Tran Van Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party Bloc of Ho Chi Minh City, delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

Ms. Hang Thi Thu Nga said that when implementing the arrangement plan, the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party bloc of Ho Chi Minh City established 2 Party Committees including the Party Committee of the city's Party agencies, mass organizations, and judiciary and the Party Committee of the city's government bloc.

According to Ms. Hang Thi Thu Nga, the new model after the basic arrangement overcomes the shortcomings and limitations of the old model (no government at the same level). The two new Party Committees have the participation of the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the People's Committee in the Party Committee. This is a favorable condition for the leadership to carry out political tasks more closely, overcoming general leadership; the concretization of Party resolutions and organization of implementation will be faster and more effective.

The new model helps to synchronize leadership, management and personnel work; ensure comprehensiveness in evaluating party members, and manage party members more closely. The inspection, supervision and evaluation of the results of leadership in implementing political tasks for grassroots party committees will be more direct, regular and in-depth. Closely monitoring the implementation of political tasks will help party committees have conditions to strengthen warnings and prevent violations of party organizations and party members when performing political tasks.

Concluding the conference, Secretary of the Party Committee of the People - Government - Party Bloc of Ho Chi Minh City Tran Van Nam affirmed the importance of implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, especially in the context that Ho Chi Minh City is facing many great opportunities and challenges.

Mr. Tran Van Nam emphasized that Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW is not only a document guiding organizational work but also an important strategy in building a team of officials, developing the government and improving the quality of leadership and management of Ho Chi Minh City.

"We must innovate our thinking in organizing and managing the apparatus. This reform is not only to reduce the number of staff but more importantly to improve the quality of the staff, ensuring better service for the people. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City, as the economic center of the country, needs a transparent and effective government system," Mr. Tran Van Nam emphasized.
