The source revealed that Meta's tool will use AI to provide content summaries to search and integrate it into the Meta AI chatbot. This move is said to be Meta's attempt to reduce its dependence on Google and Microsoft.
Currently, the chatbot is available on Instagram and Facebook, using Google Search and Microsoft Bing to answer questions about recent news and events. However, this may change when Meta gets a new search engine.
A team of engineers worked for eight months to build the chatbot’s database, the source said, adding that Meta also created location data to compete with Google Maps.
Meta has yet to comment on the matter.
