Two reputable Apple leakers, Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo, have both agreed that the expected price for the new foldable iPhone will be around $2,000 or more.
According to 9to5Mac , this rumored price tag will probably give Apple a good reason to launch the iPhone 17 Ultra this year. Previously, there were rumors that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be renamed Ultra.
While Apple typically keeps the Pro and Pro Max models largely the same in terms of specs, the 2025 version will likely be different. Specifically, 9to5Mac cites some current rumors about the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which will include a much thicker design to accommodate a larger battery, a smaller Dynamic Island, and possibly a proprietary cooling system.
Additionally, 9to5Mac also believes that the iPhone 17 Ultra (or Pro Max) could help Apple gather the necessary data when pricing its first foldable phone model, before navigating into the exciting new iPhone era.
Apple is likely to launch the iPhone 17 Ultra for $1,499 . If this product is successful, Apple can be sure that launching a folding iPhone for $1,999 will not be too risky a step.
If sales of the Ultra version fall short of the Pro Max's standard numbers, Apple will have more time to work out pricing for these premium products.
