Nintendo Switch 2 is the same thickness as the first generation Switch (13.99 mm). The device has a 7.9-inch screen, larger than the Switch OLED (7 inches), Full HD resolution, HDR support and 120 Hz refresh rate.
The Joy-Con 2 controller is larger and supports mouse mode to play some compatible games. Users can still detach or attach the controller to the body of the device using magnets.
Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal memory, higher than its predecessor (32 GB). The product is equipped with 2 USB-C ports for charging the battery and connecting accessories. When docked, Switch 2 supports output to an external screen with a maximum resolution of 4K @ 60 fps.

Nintendo Switch 2 game cards are red to distinguish them from the original Switch (which was black). The device also supports microSD Express cards, which are incompatible with the microSD cards on the original.

Nintendo is also introducing a new feature called GameShare, which allows Switch 2 users to play games online with other consoles on the same network, even if they don’t own the game. In addition to Joy-Con 2, Nintendo also introduced the Pro Controller for Switch 2, adding 2 “GL” and “GR” buttons on the back, a “C” button and a 3.5mm headphone port.
During the event, Nintendo introduced a number of games for Switch 2 such as Kirby Air Ride , Donkey Kong Bananza , Mario Kart World or Hollow Knight: Silksong . In particular, the racing game Mario Kart World supports up to 24 players, open world mode and weather that changes over time.
According to Bloomberg , the Switch 2 has the potential to boost sales for Nintendo. To attract players, the Japanese company is partnering with a number of third-party game companies, releasing popular games that were not available on the original Switch, such as Cyberpunk 2077 , Street Fighter 6 , or Final Fantasy 7 Remake .

According to The Verge , Nintendo Switch launched in 2017 was a huge success for Nintendo with sales of 150 million units, approaching Nintendo DS (155 million) and Sony PlayStation 2 (160 million).
Despite being eight years old, Nintendo has continued to release games for the original Switch in recent months. The system also marks a new direction for Nintendo beyond gaming, such as expanding into theme parks and making movies.
