The “Happy School” project for the 2024-2025 school year has officially launched at Ha Son Primary School, Quy Hop District, Nghe An Province. The project promises to bring a better learning environment, creating opportunities for students to develop comprehensively.
On November 9, the Vietnamese Stature Fund (VSF) coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Quy Hop district, Nghe An province to launch the "Happy School" project for the 2024-2025 school year at Ha Son Primary School.
Attending the launching ceremony were representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Quy Hop district, representatives of the Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Ha Son commune; Mr. Mullapudi Ravindra, Technical Director of Nghe An Sugarcane Company Limited (NASU) (under TH Group), representative of the Fund for Vietnamese Stature; nearly 30 lecturers and students who are youth union members of Hanoi Medical University; and a large number of staff, teachers, parents and students of Ha Son Primary School.
Comprehensive happy learning environment for teachers and students
The 2024 - 2025 school year is the third year that VSF has implemented the Happy School project, and the second year of implementation at a school in Nghe An province. Following the success of the previous two school years, in this school year, the project continues to upgrade school facilities, including building toilets, and coordinates with related units to organize useful training courses that meet the needs of teachers, parents and students at the school, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning, so that every day at school is a happy day.
In particular, in addition to the school nutrition training activities as in the previous school year, the project also added training activities on physical education and school sports, thereby promoting the improvement of nutrition and comprehensive health for students. The project also coordinated with the Youth Union of Quy Hop District Police to organize communication on fire prevention and fighting, security and order, and traffic safety, with the goal of helping students grasp basic knowledge, protecting the safety of themselves and the community.
Representing the organizing unit, Mr. Mullapudi Ravindra, Technical Director of NASU (under TH Group) shared: “Through the project's activities, we hope to contribute to creating a safer, healthier and fairer learning environment for both teachers and students, where children have the best conditions to develop comprehensively both mentally and physically, contributing to the development of their homeland in the future.”
Ha Son Primary School is located in Ha Son commune, Quy Hop district, Nghe An province. It is a school in region III, a particularly difficult area of Nghe An province, with 95% of the students studying at the school being ethnic minorities, the teaching and learning of teachers and students here still faces many difficulties and shortages. The implementation of the Happy School project promises to bring teachers and students at the school a better learning environment in terms of both facilities and skills and awareness.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Ngo Xuan Song, Principal of Ha Son Primary School, happily shared: "Being selected to implement the Happy School project is an opportunity for teachers and students of the school to get closer to the indicators and standards of the Happy School criteria set, becoming a place that fully converges factors such as safety, love, respect and understanding. This is a place where teachers and students feel happy in the teaching and learning process, where the love between teachers, students and children is cherished and nurtured every day."
The school also commits to actively coordinate better with the project coordination board to effectively implement the contents and programs throughout the project period to ensure the project achieves the best results, and at the same time expresses gratitude for the attention and support of VSF, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, TH Group, NASU Company and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi Medical University.
Improve knowledge and skills in community medicine
Also on the morning of November 9, the first activity of the project - Community Medicine Training Program - was organized. This activity was coordinated by VSF with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi Medical University within the framework of the cooperation program on community medicine between the two sides.
On November 9 and 10, 12 health training courses took place with the participation of nearly 200 people, including teachers, parents and students of Ha Son Primary School. Under the guidance of experts who are lecturers and doctors from Hanoi Medical University, participants were trained in 4 main contents: drowning prevention, injury accidents and first aid; proper nutrition for students; oral care for children, identification and response to attention deficit in students.
With two children studying in grades 2 and 4 at Ha Son Primary School, Mr. Truong Van Lan was most impressed with the training class on accident prevention, drowning and first aid. Here, parents and teachers learned about the steps to take when children encounter common accidents such as drowning, febrile convulsions, choking on foreign objects, etc. In particular, under the guidance of the instructors, students directly practiced the correct artificial respiration technique on the model.
“Both the dental training course for children and the courses on school nutrition, attention deficit in students and first aid for adults were extremely useful. My family of four arranged to attend the school. Having small children at home, I was very worried about what to do if accidents happened in the house or around me. Now that I have been trained, if a situation arises, I can calmly deal with it,” Mr. Truong Van Lan shared.
Not only adults, students are also extremely excited when being instructed by lecturers from the Department of Community Dentistry at the Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery of Hanoi Medical University on how to properly care for their teeth.
“Before, I didn’t know how much toothpaste to use, but now the teachers have shown me how. When I get home, I will tell my brother so he can also know how to brush his teeth properly,” said Truong Anh Duy, a 5C student excitedly.
The Happy School Project is a long-term project implemented by VSF from the 2022-2023 school year in Lao Cai, Son La and Nghe An provinces. In the 2024-2025 school year, the project continues to bring meaningful activities back to Nghe An province with the support of TH Group and Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank. The project is a comprehensive solution to contribute to improving facilities and enhancing the capacity of teachers and students in schools in disadvantaged areas. This is one of the next efforts of the For Vietnamese Stature Fund to contribute to the National Target Programs and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
