Prestigious experts gather in Hanoi to share about 'Happiness in education'

Happiness in education is gradually becoming a trend and a central goal of modern education systems around the world, helping students develop comprehensively in terms of Mind - Intelligence - Strength. The 2024 "Happiness in Education" conference is an opportunity for educational leaders, teachers and parents to discuss and explore solutions to build a positive and sustainable school environment.

Modern educational trends: Focusing on happiness

Happiness in education is not simply a temporary satisfaction or small joys in the learning process. It is a state of balance between emotions, physical and social relationships, helping students feel the joy of learning, stimulating curiosity, passion for learning and achieving sustainable happiness.

Dr. Tal Ben - Shahar (Harvard University, expert in Positive Psychology) believes that happiness education focuses on building a safe and positive learning environment, helping students develop comprehensively in terms of emotions, social skills and academic abilities. Many studies also show that happiness has a positive correlation with motivation and academic achievement. Once they develop emotionally, mentally and physically, they will also achieve outstanding intellectual development.

In a rapidly developing society, students are faced with many challenges such as increased academic pressure, stress from standardized tests, or the complexity of balancing between study and personal life, so happiness education has become an inevitable trend. Countries such as Finland, Denmark, Australia or India have integrated happiness into their education systems.

Finland focuses on building “moving” schools, increasing physical education hours, reducing sitting time in the classroom to promote outdoor activities, stimulate creativity, and love of learning.

Meanwhile, Denmark promotes social and emotional education, de-emphasizing grades, encouraging students to be themselves. Australia integrates the Positive Detective course in schools, and Indian students are taught specifically about “Happiness”. What these countries have in common is that they focus on building a value-based and process-based education, rather than focusing on learning outcomes, promoting students’ well-being and happiness.

Workshop “Happiness in Education” 2024: Practical solutions to build a positive and effective learning environment

With the desire to bring the values ​​of happy education closer to Vietnamese students, TH School and TH Group, together with the Institute for Education and Human Resources Development (EDI), organized the International Conference on Happiness in Education 2024. This is a large-scale educational event, aimed at educational planners, school leaders, teachers and parents, promising to bring new perspectives and practical solutions to build a positive and happy educational environment in Vietnam.

The Happiness in Education Conference took place on November 23 and 24 in Hanoi, bringing together prestigious and experienced experts in the field of education in Vietnam and around the world.

Experts will provide insights into innovative education, exploring one or more aspects of well-being based on the SPIRE model, developed by Dr. Tal Ben Shahar. Through this, the workshop contributes to promoting collaboration, professional development, equipping teachers and educators with the knowledge and skills to nurture student well-being.

The SPIRE model includes 5 main aspects: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, Emotional.

The workshop includes three programs designed with three main content groups, suitable for each group of participants.

For education planners, guests from the Ministry of Education and Training, and school leaders, the morning session on November 23 will provide insights into integrating happiness and personal goals into the educational environment. Speakers will bring topics on holistic education, personalized learning, and building a happy learning environment.

In addition, the program will share stories of successful implementation of the happy school model in a number of school systems in Vietnam. Their insights will support leaders and educators in developing clear, inspiring directions to create a positive and exciting learning atmosphere. The conference will be supported by headset interpretation.

The afternoon of November 23rd will be a workshop for parents. With a focus on the role of parents in guiding and encouraging their children’s development, this workshop will provide the skills and knowledge needed for parents to communicate effectively with their children, stimulating curiosity, creativity and joy in learning.

Speakers will share positive parenting techniques, encouraging language and strategies for developing children's mind, body and spirit, thereby helping parents build a solid foundation for their children's future in the context of modern education.

In particular, the direct interaction with experts will be a valuable opportunity for parents to discuss and answer any questions and concerns in the journey of raising children. The seminar will have translation support via headphones.

Designed specifically for teachers and education administrators, the teacher workshop on November 24 will showcase innovative educational approaches and technology platforms to enhance teaching and learning. International experts will also share tools and strategies to monitor and promote student well-being, while encouraging critical thinking and a global perspective.
