This is a new grape variety selected by Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute (under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) and transferred to farmers in Ninh Thuan for trial planting.
Tourist Nguyen Thi Phuong, from Nha Trang City, expressed surprise that Ninh Thuan grows seedless finger (fingernail) grapes with large fruit and beautiful colors like imported from abroad.
The highlight of this grape variety is that when ripe, it turns an eye-catching purple-black color, the flesh is firm, slightly crunchy, seedless, and has a rich sweet taste. The fruit stem is tightly closed and rarely falls off, making it very convenient for storage and transportation.
The first seedless grape garden in Ninh Thuan attracts tourists to check-in
Grapes are not only a famous fruit specialty of Ninh Thuan province but also a typical tourist product of this land.
Many vineyards attract crowds of tourists to visit and take pictures, but this is the first time visitors have the opportunity to see with their own eyes seedless finger grapes in this windy and sunny land.
According to Mr. Tri, this is the first seedless grape variety successfully grown in Ninh Thuan. Currently, the selling price at the garden ranges from 200,000 - 220,000 VND/kg, compared to the common grape varieties currently available in Ninh Thuan, the profit is three to four times higher.
Grapes have been grown in Ninh Thuan since the 1960s. Ninh Thuan has a hot climate and dry soil conditions suitable for the growth and development of grapes.
During the time the vineyard bears fruit, Mr. Tri welcomes hundreds of tourists every day to visit this vineyard for free.
As a tourist from Gia Lai province, Ms. Trinh Thi Na said that she had visited many vineyards in Ninh Thuan, but when she entered the seedless black finger grape garden, she felt something different. "I felt very excited and wonderful when I entered this vineyard. The bunches of grapes had many colors, green, red, pink, black, so beautiful. I didn't want to eat them, I just wanted to look at them. It would be a pity to eat them!", Ms. Na shared with a smile.
Dr. Phan Cong Kien, Deputy Director of Nha Ho Cotton Research and Agricultural Development Institute, said that the NH04-102 grape variety originated from the institute's grape variety garden; this new grape variety is grown on the Couderc 1613 rootstock variety.
