On October 30, sharing with Tien Phong , Hoang Tuan, singer Dan Truong's manager, said he withdrew the lawsuit against Thai Trinh and Bang Cuong, after the two singers' representatives directly contacted him to apologize and resolve the matter.
" Our HT Production does not collect copyright fees. As I said before, they have good intentions and will pay the attorney fees, so I withdrew the lawsuit, including Thai Trinh and Bang Cuong," said Mr. Tuan.
Mr. Hoang Tuan said the biggest reason he withdrew the lawsuit was seeing the goodwill from Thai Trinh and Bang Cuong. As for Duong Edward, he decided to sue to the end.
"Since the day the article was published, Duong Edward's side has not contacted or called us. I am suing them for using Vietnamese lyrics in a foreign song that we have exclusive rights to," Mr. Hoang Tuan added.
Singer Dan Truong's manager said he did not sue Duong Edward over the foreign music. Previously, the male singer appealed to YouTube, which was approved because Mr. Hoang Tuan reported one day late according to the platform's regulations.
"We just flagged another video of Duong Edward on YouTube because it used Vietnamese lyrics that we own but with a different title. Previously, Dan Truong was a tourism ambassador for Taiwan and China, so he was licensed to perform Chinese music with Vietnamese lyrics. Although we don't have exclusive rights to the music, we have exclusive rights to the lyrics, they deliberately don't understand that," Mr. Hoang Tuan added.
On the evening of October 27, Mr. Hoang Tuan posted on his personal page, announcing that he would sue three singers Thai Trinh, Bang Cuong, and Duong Edward for singing copyrighted music without permission.
Mr. Hoang Tuan said he had withdrawn the lawsuit against Thai Trinh and Bang Cuong.
"The biggest reason I sued is because they used my music but appealed to YouTube. Really, if you just call and ask for permission, or pay a very small copyright fee, we will allow you to use it on YouTube," Mr. Hoang Tuan told Tien Phong.
Mr. Hoang Tuan said that the list of works of HT Production all belong to Hoang Tuan company, in which foreign music with Vietnamese lyrics is permanent, Vietnamese music has a time limit.
Dan Truong's manager said that recently many singers used songs that HT Production owns the copyright to without asking for permission. HT Production contacted them but got no results. "I just hope you respect the copyright. A phone call or text message shows civility," said Mr. Tuan.
