According to VTC News, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy was on the list of 28 players selected by coach Kim Sang-sik for the Vietnam national team. In V.League 2023/24, Hong Duy played 19 matches for Nam Dinh Club. He scored 1 goal and had 2 assists for his teammates. The defender from Binh Phuoc is very strong in attack, but his weak defense still makes his performance not comprehensive. This is the reason Nam Dinh Club had to borrow Do Thanh Thinh in the second leg.

Although the chance of advancing is slim, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team still have a chance. The Vietnamese team needs to win at home against the Philippines and wait for Indonesia to stumble against Iraq. When playing away in West Asia, Quang Hai and his teammates need an earthquake to get through the narrow door in Group D.
