Note on new subject combinations
According to information from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, this year the school has a new combination K01 including the subjects: Math, Literature, Physics/Chemistry/Biology/IT; in which Math and Literature are 2 compulsory subjects, combined with 1 of 4 subjects Physics/Chemistry/Biology/IT (Math coefficient 3, the remaining subjects coefficient 2).
The University of Transport has added the GT1 combination of Math, Physics, and IT. This is also a new admission combination of the University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) along with the combination of Math, English, and IT in addition to the four other traditional combinations of the school. Hanoi University of Industry plans to add new combinations including A0C (Math, Physics, Technology); A0T (Math, Physics, IT), B0C (Math, Chemistry, Technology), D0C (Math, English, Technology), D0G (Math, English, Economic and Legal Education).
Candidates can consider the diverse admission combinations of Vietnam Agricultural Academy such as: Math, Physics, Technology; Math, Literature, Economic and Legal Education; Literature, History, Economic and Legal Education; Literature, Geography, Economic and Legal Education; Math, Literature, Technology.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education plans to remove the groups with inappropriate exam papers (Natural Sciences, Social Sciences) and add groups with subjects of Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology. Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade adds 5 admission groups: C00 (Literature, History, Geography), C01 (Literature, Mathematics, Physics), C02 (Literature, Mathematics, Chemistry), C14 (Math, Literature, Economic and Legal Education) and the group of Mathematics, Information Technology, and English.
According to experts' analysis, a major and basic principle is that students with better results will have a higher chance of being admitted. With the option of considering high school graduation exam scores, although the admission combinations are different, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, higher education institutions will have to calculate to come up with a formula for calculating the converted scores for university admission to a common scale, thus ensuring fair opportunities for all candidates.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) also said that in university admission, candidates can choose an unlimited number of admission wishes and the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training will not distinguish between admission methods. The number of admission methods in the "scan" system depends on the total number of methods of the training institution proposed in the admission plan. Therefore, candidates do not need to register for admission by method, they only need to register for the admission major.
"You don't need to choose a method or combination of codes. What you need to pay more attention to is preparing a good application, having high scores on the high school graduation exam and the ability assessment exam" - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education recommended.
Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training had removed the regulation of a maximum of 4 combinations/admission methods if using high school graduation exam results. Instead, candidates can have more combinations. Training institutions can build more admission combinations to create maximum conditions for candidates in all regions when taking different exams.
High school graduation exam knowledge focuses on grade 12
The official 2025 university admission regulations have not been issued yet, so candidates and schools still have many concerns about the admission plans of educational and training institutions. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) informed that this is the first year of the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. In addition to understanding the knowledge and skills in the program, candidates need to pay special attention to connecting and applying knowledge and skills to real life.
Regarding the content and scope of knowledge in the high school graduation exam, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that it will focus on the 12th grade program but there may still be knowledge from grades 11 and 10; in which the knowledge from grades 10 and 11 can be independent but can also be related to knowledge from grade 12. This is an advantage for candidates in closely following the direction of review and practice.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Regulations on University and College Admissions in 2025 will be officially announced in March so that higher education institutions can have official and public admission plans for students, parents, teachers and the whole society. In particular, the 2025 high school graduation exam will be adjusted in the direction of reducing the number of exams and exam sessions but increasing the choice of candidates, which is one of the adjustments to ensure fairness, transparency and convenience for candidates in university and college admissions.
