At the opening ceremony of the Techconnect and Innovation Vietnam 2024 event on the afternoon of September 30, Mr. Julien Guerrier - Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam - said that the event is an excellent platform for cooperation. Focusing on narrowing the gap between supply and demand in technology, the event highlights Vietnam's technological progress. "I am particularly impressed by this year's theme: Fostering Innovation - Driving Force for Rapid and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development. This resonates deeply with the EU's vision and with our key global gateway strategy, in which innovation plays a core role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, digital transformation and improving healthcare," Mr. Julien Guerrier affirmed. Mr. Julien Guerrier said that over the years, Europe has been working closely with Vietnam in a number of technology initiatives. For example, under the flagship Horizon Europe programme and its predecessor, Vietnamese universities and research institutes have participated in 48 projects with a total funding of nearly 4 million euros. "Looking to the future, I believe in the great potential for even closer cooperation between the EU and Vietnam, especially in areas such as green technology, digital innovation and sustainable agriculture. The EU and its member states will continue to be committed to supporting Vietnamese people, businesses and researchers in applying the latest technologies to promote economic growth, while ensuring environmental sustainability and social justice," Mr. Julien Guerrier emphasized.

Also at the program, Mr. Choi Youngsan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, said that strengthening global research cooperation, strengthening partnerships between production and research, and promoting a sustainable creative startup ecosystem is very important. "Korea-Vietnam science and technology cooperation will play a key role in applied research, technology development and commercialization, and talent cultivation, and become a successful global cooperation model. Korean companies such as Samsung and LG will also strengthen technological cooperation with Vietnamese companies and promote production-research partnerships with local universities and research institutes, thereby further contributing to enhancing Vietnam's advanced technological capabilities and cultivating highly qualified experts. In addition, to support the development of the creative startup ecosystem as a driving force for innovation, we will actively facilitate regular meetings and exchange events between relevant ministries and agencies of Korea and Vietnam," said Mr. Choi Youngsan.
Techconnect and Innovation Vietnam 2024 is an important event to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Science and Technology (1959-2024) and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (1954-2024), co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hanoi People's Committee. The event takes place from September 30 to October 1, expected to attract 2,500 - 3,000 direct participants and 7,000 - 10,000 online participants, along with 200 technology demonstration booths.
