That was the information given by Mr. Do Tuan Khoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province - at a press conference on the 140th anniversary of the Yen The Uprising (1884 - 2024), taking place from March 12 to March 17.
According to Mr. Khoa, the ceremony will announce more valuable documents about the Yen The uprising. Among them are many documents, materials, and artifacts kept by the French and given to Vietnam.
Visitors can visit the Yen The Uprising Exhibition House from the afternoon of March 15.
Mr. Truong Quang Hai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province - said that the requiem ceremony organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha is expected to take place at the temple yard of Hoang Hoa Tham and the insurgents. About 500 monks, senior monks, venerable monks and great monks will participate.
The 140th anniversary of the Yen The Uprising, according to Mr. Hai, aims to pay tribute to the leaders and the immortal spirit of the Yen The uprising army, while at the same time arousing and promoting the spirit of solidarity, patriotic tradition, and determination to protect independence and freedom.
The highlight of the celebration was an art program with the theme Yen The Epic to praise the contributions of heroes Luong Van Nam (De Nam) and Hoang Hoa Tham (De Tham) and the Yen The insurgents who bravely fought against French colonialism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

In addition, Bac Giang province also organized the inauguration ceremony of the restoration and embellishment of Ha communal house and offered incense at Luong Van Nam temple, the inauguration ceremony of Hoang Hoa Tham temple and Yen The insurgents, and sports competitions such as stick pushing, crossbow shooting, etc.
According to the People's Committee of Bac Giang province, the uprising led by De Nam and De Tham was the largest and most extensive uprising, lasting nearly 30 years from 1884 to 1913 to fight against French colonial rule.
Therefore, in recent times, Bac Giang province has preserved and restored sites and relics of the Yen The Uprising such as the three-story roofed communal house, the temple of Hoang Hoa Tham and the Yen The insurgents, Phon Duong fort, Thien Thai cave, etc.
The total approved budget is up to over 450 billion VND.
It is expected that in 2025, Phồn Xương fort associated with the Yên Thế Uprising will be restored with ramparts and soldier posts to most authentically recreate this historical site.
