After the Lunar New Year, when people happily go to festivals all over the country, this is also the time when the organization and management of festivals need to be strengthened and tightened more than ever. To ensure the success of the 2025 Huong Pagoda Festival, the My Duc district government and the festival organizing committee have made many innovations suitable to reality.

Welcoming more than 80,000 guests before the opening day
The 2025 Huong Pagoda Festival has the theme "Huong Pagoda Festival - a tourist destination, culture, and Vietnamese tradition", taking place for 3 months, from February 3 to May 1. The opening ceremony was held on February 3 (January 6), attracting thousands of visitors to visit and worship.
Tourists visit Huong Pagoda
In order for the Huong Pagoda Festival 2025 to take place safely, civilly, friendly and healthily, the People's Committee of My Duc district has strengthened information, propaganda and promotion work on mass media; landscape decoration, space for installing billboards, flower beds, and ornamental plants along Provincial Road 419 (from Doc Tin to Huong Son) and the walking route on both sides of Yen stream to create a landscape for tourists to visit and enjoy the festival.
Along with that, My Duc district authorities and the Festival Organizing Committee have also built a Traditional Culture and Tourism Week, combining intangible cultural performances and traditional folk arts, along with folk games into the program, to enhance the cultural value of the festival.
Speaking to reporters of the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper, Mr. Dang Van Trieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of My Duc District, said: "Compared to previous years, this year's Huong Pagoda Festival has been more organized and orderly in terms of environmental sanitation, shops, and services to ensure better cultural institutions. During the 4 days (from the 3rd to the 6th of the Lunar New Year of At Ty), Huong Pagoda welcomed about 80,000 visitors."

Mr. Trieu also affirmed that this year, the situation of soliciting customers and asking for money for boat rides has no longer existed. Currently, the District People's Committee is coordinating with departments and branches to implement the planning policy of Huong Pagoda as approved by the Prime Minister (investing in building wharves to help people travel more conveniently by water, improving the quality of boat and ferry services, ensuring safety for tourists).
Improve service quality, do not let offensive images recur
The outstanding innovation of the 2025 Huong Pagoda Festival is that each boatman has a QR code to receive feedback from tourists.
Mr. Bui Van Trieu, Head of the Management Board of Huong Pagoda Relic Site, said that the Huong Pagoda Tourism Service Cooperative has been assigned the task of developing a plan to apply digital technology to management, using QR codes to evaluate visitor satisfaction as well as receive feedback, thereby making timely adjustments.

“Each ferryman has a QR code for the Cooperative to manage, each ferry boat has an interactive QR code to provide feedback on the ferryman’s service attitude towards tourists. The ferry service time for tourists starts from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day. For cases of disturbing tourists such as demanding or improper behavior, the Management Board will strictly handle, remind and commit to making a record and handling if necessary. Up to now, no serious problems have been encountered and measures have been taken to remind employees and vehicle owners to protect the rights of tourists,” Mr. Trieu added.
According to the Head of the Management Board of Huong Pagoda relic site, the Organizing Committee has integrated sightseeing tickets and boat tickets, creating convenience and transparency in services. Wharfs and parking lots are strictly planned... Management of security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, and environmental sanitation in the scenic area continues to be tightened, ensuring a safe and friendly festival environment.
Regarding service prices, the ticket price for sightseeing will remain unchanged compared to 2024, still at VND120,000, while the boat ticket price will increase from VND85,000 to VND110,000, along with improving service quality, ensuring water traffic safety, providing umbrellas, free drinking water, and receiving feedback from tourists to improve services," Mr. Trieu added.
For the cable car service from Thien Tru Pagoda to Huong Tich Cave, the round-trip ticket is 260,000 VND/adult, 180,000 VND/child and priority person. The one-way ticket is 180,000 VND/adult, 120,000 VND/child and priority person. The electric car ticket from the parking lot to the ferry terminal is 20,000 VND/person/trip.
“Regarding the cable car, the number of visitors using this service accounts for about 60-70% of the total number of visitors each day. Therefore, we have come up with a plan to regulate the number of visitors right from the ferry terminal to avoid congestion and ensure the safety and convenience of visitors throughout the tour,” said Mr. Trieu.

Ms. Pham Thi Suot (68 years old), a tourist from Nga Son (Thanh Hoa), said that every early spring, her family goes sightseeing and worshiping at temples and pagodas. This year, 6 people in her family chose to visit Huong Pagoda after the festival opened one day. "This year, there was no jostling, pushing or soliciting of visitors. My family first went to Trinh Temple to make offerings, then went to Thien Tru Pagoda and then visited Huong Tich Cave," Ms. Suot said.
Tourists take a boat at Yen stream
Also visiting Huong Pagoda a day after the festival, Ms. Thai Linh (living in Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay, Hanoi) said: Traffic flow is divided from a distance, and electric cars are regulated to pick up and drop off tourists, so there is no traffic congestion like in previous years. Along Yen wharf area, the boat entrance and exit have been organized systematically, with automatic ticket scanning gates combined with tour guides. This year's boat and ferry services have also been completely renovated, with life jackets, drinking water, umbrellas, etc. fully provided, so tourists feel happy on the first day of the spring festival.
From efforts to ensure security, order, environmental sanitation to applying information technology in management, digital transformation; changing the service style of each boatman has contributed to the success of the 2025 Huong Pagoda Festival with the theme "Huong Pagoda Festival - a tourist destination, culture, Vietnamese traditions", thereby contributing to the development of the capital's cultural industry. Striving by 2030, Huong Pagoda Tourist Area will become a national tourist area.
My Duc district currently has 282 relics. Of which, there are 16 relics ranked at national level, 92 relics ranked at city level; 2 national intangible cultural heritages, 60 city intangible cultural heritages, 67 traditional festivals and many intangible cultural heritages with special values, typically: Cultural tourism of Huong Pagoda Festival, Van Giang - Nam Duong Festival; folk performing art of Te Tieu dry puppetry, An Phu gongs... Huong Son (Huong Pagoda) is a famous complex of relics and scenic spots in Huong Son commune, My Duc district, Hanoi. Huong Son relic complex includes a system of caves, temples and pagodas. This place is not only famous for Huong Tich cave, Hinh Bong, Thien Tru pagoda, Thanh Son, Tuyet Son... mixed with mountains, forests, flowers, trees and grass, but also honored because Huong Son is located in the cradle of unique culture, with customs and lifestyles typical of Vietnamese villages, having great value in history, culture, spirituality and tourism, with 21 relic sites with caves, temples, pagodas, streams, mountains, fields, beaches... Each relic site is a priceless Buddhist cultural heritage... With those values, on December 25, 2017, the Prime Minister decided to recognize the Huong Son scenic complex (Huong pagoda) as a special national relic. On September 24, 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee decided to recognize the Huong Son Scenic Relic Complex (Huong Pagoda) as a city-level tourist area... To be worthy of the city-level tourist area, My Duc district has mobilized resources to invest in building infrastructure, innovating the management of parking lots and boats; rearranging service areas; training, fostering, and coaching cadres and people participating in services as well as conditions for security, order, social safety, and environmental protection; organizing cultural and folk art activities with traditional identities to propagate and promote services for tourists when they come to the land of Buddha - Huong Pagoda. |
