Welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Poland

According to VNA special correspondent, on the morning of January 16, local time, at the Prime Minister's Office in Warsaw, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk presided over a ceremony to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the Vietnamese delegation on an official visit to the Republic of Poland.

When the motorcade carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the Vietnamese delegation entered the Prime Minister's Palace square, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk came out to the parking lot to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

In the cold of 1 degree Celsius, after a warm handshake and hug, Prime Minister Donald Tusk invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to move to the position of honor and the national anthems of the two countries were solemnly played by the Military Band.

The Polish Prime Minister invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to inspect the guard of honor, then introduced the two Prime Ministers to the delegations from both sides attending the welcoming ceremony. The welcoming ceremony ended with a parade by the Polish army.

After the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Donald Tusk had a small meeting and led high-ranking delegations from the two countries to hold talks.

Poland has given enthusiastic support and valuable assistance in Vietnam's past struggle for national liberation as well as in its current national construction and development.

Leaders of the two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels to consolidate and strengthen the friendship between the two countries. The two countries closely coordinate in multilateral forums.

Vietnam is currently Poland's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia and Poland is Vietnam's leading partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Two-way trade turnover is continuously increasing, reaching 3.435 billion USD in 2024.

Poland has now ratified the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Regarding investment, as of November 2024, Poland has 33 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of 473.82 million USD.

Poland was one of the first countries in the European Union (EU) to support Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cooperation in other areas such as defense, security, education, training, agriculture, culture, and labor between the two countries has also developed positively.

Poland has trained thousands of Vietnamese students, scientists and skilled workers. Currently, the Vietnamese community in Poland has about 25,000 people, with a tradition of solidarity, patriotic orientation, many contributions to the locality and relations between the two countries, and is highly appreciated by the Polish government.

With a good foundation of relations, the official visit to the Republic of Poland by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation this time is of great significance; creating a breakthrough, elevating the relationship between the two countries, thereby promoting and deepening the relationship between Vietnam and the Central Eastern European region.

On the same morning, before the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the Vietnamese delegation laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldiers Memorial in Victory Square named after Marshal Jozef Piłsludski.

This is the most important Memorial and Monument in Poland, which commemorates the unknown soldiers who gave their lives for the independence of Poland.

Writing in the memorial book, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his admiration for the heroic martyrs who devoted and sacrificed their lives for the independence, sovereignty, democracy, freedom and development of Poland.
